Only YOU Hotel Atocha, room 611

We checked out of Catalonia Puerta del Sol today with a heavy heart. We really liked our Junior Ste. room 104, and most especially the hotel’s location. Lakad-lakad lang sa paligid.

We’re now moving to Only YOU Hotel Atocha, right in front of the train station. I couldn’t cancel our reservation anymore since it was already fully paid.
The taxi ride from Catalonia to Only You cost Euro 7.65 but I gave him Euro 10 so the driver seemed happy.

I felt anxious on our way to Only YOU because I wasn’t sure if it would be up to our liking. The name alone sounded a bit “baduy,” but its proximity to the train station was the deciding factor. We’re taking the train to Seville on Saturday morning, and I figured it would be much more convenient to stay right across from the station.
At least we’ll only have to drag our luggage a short distance, although even that can be a bit of a hassle.

When we arrived, the lobby of Only YOU Hotel surprised us. It looks chic and hip, with a vibe that feels more like a stylish bar than a typical hotel. It definitely eased some of my worries.

The check in staff were friendly. Check in was fast, they gave us room 620 kasi daw I requested for a quiet room. There’s an ongoing road construction right in front of the hotel and there could be some noise.

Room 620 was modern but quite tight. The bed was made up of two twin beds pushed together to form a queen. There wasn’t much space for Edmund and me to spread out our luggage, even though I only brought a small one, medyo masikip.

On the bright side, it was really quiet. Edmund mentioned that it felt more cramped because we had just come from a spacious room at Catalonia with a living room, so the contrast was very noticeable. But then again, sometimes it’s better to start small and move to something bigger.

I told him I’d go to the front desk to request a room change, but he said not to bother since there was a good chance no other rooms were available anyway. I went anyway, wala namang mawawala, konti exercise lang.

I went down to the front desk to request a room upgrade. They explained that the larger rooms face the street, so there could be some noise from the construction. They showed me one of the available options—room 611, a King Suite—so I could decide if I liked it. I instantly preferred room 611 because it was much more spacious than 620. It had a proper king bed and a large sofa where my husband could hang out comfortably.

I went back to room 620 to get my other half—and aba, he had already made himself cozy and comfortable! Napagtripan pa niya yung robe na parang giraffe. I told him, “Sabi ko sa’yo, lilipat tayo!”

So we moved to Room 611. As soon as I opened door, Edmund said “nice!”

So here we are in room 611, our honeymoon nest for the next 3 nights.
