Miag-ao Church

Edmund and I finished two kilos of lanzones even before we reached Miag-ao Church.

The van that we rented was not a Ford or a Mazda. I am telling you it’s not as comfortable as a Ford.
I am saying this not because we sell Ford and Mazda. I can honestly tell you, mas comfortable umupo ng ilang oras sa Ford.

It is so nice to drive to the country side. Today we are traveling to Antique for the very first time.

Masarap palang mag Visita Iglesia dito sa Iloilo, ang daming old churches.

After an hour, we reached the 250 year old Miag-ao Church that was built by the Spanish Augustinian Missionaries. Miag-ao church is also known as the San Tomas de Villanueva church.

There was a funeral when we arrived

Look at how old- looking the stones are. I like it this way I hope they don’t make the unforgivable mistake of putting plaster and paint.

It looks like a fortress

The doors are no longer original. They’ve been replaced some 50 years ago because bulok na daw.

He’s Noel, our gracious church guide who volunteered to be our photographer too. He’s been the church’s caretaker since he was a little boy.

Birhen San Barangay

Noel said the image of the Birhen could be seen on the wall, left side behind my daughter.  But look at the images behind my son,  there’s a smiling Casper-look-a-like.  See that?

We all had our photo taken with the church’s facade on the background. It’s so beautiful. Edmund said the Miag-ao church is always on calendars, post cards, posters, etc.

Edmund wants to bring home this centuries old bell, gagawin naming door bell.
