The Korean van driver, named Lee, who picked us up from Incheon International Airport told us to try Korea’s fried chicken. Without naming any brand or restaurant, he said it’s very good. When we heard “fried chicken” we were kind of skeptical kasi nga sangkatutak ang fried chicken dito sa Maynila.
Dito lang sa bahay namin, second to Antonia’s specialty bip pilit, is her fried chicken. Sa office, laging Mang Inasal ang lunch namin. Minsan, pagnasasawa, iba naman, Chicken Joy naman. Mukha na nga akong inahing manok.
( 1/4/15—– Oh my, husband keeps singing, nadi-distract ako. Time out, I will check if he’s okay, tila he’s having difficulty with the notes, baka hindi maka-hinga.
I went down to the kitchen. I caught him writing down some lyrics.
A———–“Tart, what are you singing?”
E———–“A do do do, a da da da”.
A———–“What’s the title of that song?”
E———–“A do do do, a da da da”.
A———–“Favorite yan sa Binangonan dati, sinasayaw ng mga bata”.
E———–“Matagal na ito.. nung ano pa tayo….”
E———–“Police pa la ito?”
A———–“Sino’ng police?”
E———–“Si Sting. si Sting”.
A———–“Oo, policeman pala sya”.
E———–“Hinde, sa Police sya dati”.
A———- “Mga pulis sila?”
E———- “Hinde, yung banda nila ang pangalan Police, humiwalay sya”.
E———- “Sila rin yung every breath you take..”
Okay let’s continue and go back to my remaining Korean posts. Husband is still singing, Oh my na di distract ako. I wish I could tape his voice and let you hear him singing a do do do a da da da pero baka bugbugin ako.
I will close the door. Wait. Ayan. I could still hear him a little bit. Never mind. Minsan minsan lang naman syang mawala sa sarili.
Back to fried chicken:
The minute our taxi drove up the hotel’s inner bay, we spotted a restaurant, Two Two fried chicken, near the hotel’s left side. Aha! this must be one of those fried chickens that the van driver Lee was referring to.
And the smell, we could smell the chicken from the hotel’s entrance.
Let’s investigate:
Looks yummy. All tables occupied. Many people taking out food. Many are still waiting for their orders.
Must be good.
We bought a box of 6 pieces for W16,000. Other choices go up by W1,000 every time. Pag merong sauces, or variations, the price go up by increments of W1,000. We chose the basic fried without sauce, it was the cheapest.
Edmund and the kids preferred the ones with sauces. As in all chickens, they must be eaten immediately while still hot, otherwise, the texture changes within 10 minutes.
Alin ang mas masarap? I am partial to our chickens in Manila.
Madam whats the verdict? Is it really masarap? Nabitin ata ako sa kwento 🙂
My kids and Edmund liked the one with sauce. We went back the next night and ordered half and half. Half plain fried chicken and half with sauce. It’s delicious.
