Bad Developments in Tagaytay - Oh My Buhay

Bad Developments in Tagaytay

Tagaytay’s rapid deterioration continues due to the bad real estate developments that have inundated this once charming and quaint little town.

More hotels, condominiums, restaurants and what have you are supposed to be signs of progress, however, there must be strict guidelines to be followed by the developers and business owners.

Ayala Land and Waltermart in Tagaytay

The local government units are morally bound to protect and preserve the nature’s surroundings, serenity, and foremost in their minds must be the minimal disturbance to the residents and visitors and no destruction to nature.

Approval of the developers’ plans must be strictly under the building and zoning codes, floor area to land ratio, set backs, height restrictions, encroachments, parking, etc.

Our problem is not having enough building codes. Our problem is not strictly imposing and following the rules. We have very poor implementation. I don’t know if kulang talaga tayo sa pag-iisip or simply wala tayong pakialam.

For example, Waltermart recently opened a new shopping mall and commercial building along the Tagaytay-Aguinaldo Hway. Their vehicle entrance is more or less 3 meters from the sidewalk. That means, it’s only enough to accommodate one bantam vehicle. When there’s another car that follows, the second car now blocks the road going towards Batangas. There would be vehicle build-up on both sides of the highway. Vehicles turning left, vehicles turning right, would now block those that are going straight.

Ano ba naman na yung entrance nila ay inilayo, ipinasok man lang malayo sa entrada ng kalye so that when there are 10 vehicles entering, they would not cause heavy traffic.

I am going to file a formal complaint to the powers that be in Tagaytay regarding their approval of Waltermart’s vehicle flow scheme. We, ordinary citizens have the right to voice out our complaints for disturbance to the community, bad real estate developments that hamper our right to peace and enjoyment of our surroundings, etc.

Developers: Be more considerate to other people. When planning for your projects, include naman na wag kayong maka perwisyo sa ibang tao.

  1. Tagaytay has the nicest restaurants but I agree, it’s starting to deteriorate and becoming crowded. I went to Tanay, Rizal a few weeks ago, it’s colder than Tagaytay, less pollution and walang restaurant masyado din. Maybe you should try going there Miss Annie, kaso bring your own food kasi wala talagang resto, if meron man, di masarap.
