Delayed post: November 30, 2015 Monday
Baguio has become more accessible with the construction of a new highway called TPLEX (Tarlac-Pangasinan). It’s now only four hours to Baguio. That took away at least two hours of boring ride through the endless Tarlac leg.
We left our house at 7:45 am and we reached Baguio at 12 noon. That already included three stops. One for coffee and french fries, two wee wee breaks.
E—–“Gusto mong mag-weewee?”
When I saw the makeshift toilets, I thought my husband was joking.
A—–“Ayaw ko!”
E—–“ha ha ha”
On second thought… sige na nga cowboy naman ako.
E—–“Wag dyan, para sa lalaki yan”.
We saved a lot of kilometers. We skipped several towns in Pangasinan and Tarlac.
That was only a leisurely drive, no running beyond 100 kph.
We both like white corn. The corn variety here is purple sweet. A hybrid of white and some purple colored busil.
Omb—–“Tart, di ba masama yan, genetically altered?”
E——-“Hindeee”.
The widened portion became a place for the residents’ vehicle parking and for drying palay.
PLus we passed thru the longer 14.4. km Marcos hway. Kennon Road is only 6.8 km long.
Someone was doing water therapy. He finished several bottles of water kaya another wee break was necessary when we reached Benguet. Sa damu-damo.
Our driver didn’t know how to drive through zigzag.
How disappointing and scary. He didn’t know how and when to overtake the big trucks in front of us. He did two very dangerous overtakes, bigla na lang kinabig yung manubela, ang laki-laki ng kasalubong namin. Until now pag naisip ko natatakot pa rin ako. Pang-Metro Manila lang itong driver na ito. Bagay lang sya sa Edsa, hindi umaandar kasi super traffic. He’s been our driver for at least 5 years and yet it’s only now that we found out he didn’t know the meaning of solid yellow lines.
Attention Drivers: Ang ibig sabihin nyan ay NO OVERTAKING kasi blind curve or dangerous. Huwag lumusot pag nakita nyo na solid yung guhit na dilaw. Kahit wala kang nakikita na kasalubong, huwag mag-overtake kasi blind curve, baka bumulaga na lang yung sasakyan sa harap mo ay sumalpok ka.
I hope you enjoyed your stay in my hometown, Ms. Annie 🙂
Yes I did. Thank you Mylene.
