100 Days of Lipitor - Oh My Buhay

100 Days of Lipitor

This is one of those days when I didn’t want to do something but I had no choice but to do it.

It’s been four months yet I still feel some pain on my upper abdomen where one of those key hole incisions to remove my gall bladder is located. I wanted to find out what’s causing the pain. It’s also been a while since my last whole abdomen check-up and blood tests.

A visit to the hospital or to a doctor is never pleasant. I drag my feet and walk with droopy eyes and face.

But no choice, medical check-ups are necessary for us mortals. I paid almost P8,000 for sugar and cholesterol blood tests (Chem 23) including an additional hundred bucks to expedite the results.

The cashier has a big pack of cornicks in her drawer. I was most tempted to beg for some. Kasi I haven’t had any food or liquid for eleven hours (fasting). I was dukling na from hunger.

I paid another P3,500 for the abdomen ultrasound.

A walk to the ultrasound room seemed like 10 kilometers long. I didn’t want to go because I was afraid the technician would find something nasty lurking inside my body.

Whether I am in my office, at home, more so in a hospital, I always wash my hands. And what’s the advice of DOH? Do it 3 times. Because our world has become dirtier, we have to spend 3x on soap and water. We consume and waste more water.

Dr. Palafox’s secretary every Saturday only, Maricel.
Before bringing the printed copy of my blood chem results inside the doctor’s clinic, she read it aloud in front of me and the other patients waiting.
Maricel——–“Puro mataas, sugar, cholesterol, magna cum laude ka. Pati liver mo, hala”.
She fueled my anxiousness by giving me an unsolicited diagnosis and advanced medical opinion.

Dr. Palafox——“Seventy percent of this is in the genes. Kaya if you stop taking your medicine, mag-su-shoot-up talaga ang cholesterol mo”.

  1. Hi Ms. A, the lady secretary / gusto-magdoktora must observe confidentiality and privacy of patients’ records. I should tell the doctor to remind her secretary. Or I should tell her she will not get any Christmas gift from me because of that.

  2. Ms Annie.. I don’t think it’s right for the med sec to READ ALOUD the results of ur tests RIGHT IN FRONT of the other waiting patients.. It’s so UNETHICAL for her to do that.. She should’ve been more DISCREET if she wanted to divulge to u ur test results.. 🙁

And for her to say — MAGNA CUM LAUDE KA — becoz of ur elevated test results? Hala???

Sana po sinabi mo sa kanya — Aba Maricel… WHO made You the DEAN.??? Ahahahaha :)) :)) :))

Take care and don’t stress urself over the results.. 😉 u have ur meds nman so just take them RELIGIOUSLY so there won’t be any more “shoot ups”.. 😉

God bless u and pls rest easy.. 😉
