13 hours to snowy Las Vegas

December 27, 2019, Friday

It took us longer than usual to reach Las Vegas. According to reports, certain roads were blocked due to three feet of snow. Really? Snow in Nevada? As we pass through snow-covered mountains and hills, we felt like we were not going to Nevada. It seemed like we were in Norway.

We stopped at my favorite Popeye’s then the real adventure began. We got lost. Edmund trusted Google than Waze and for good reason. Waze brought us to Los Angeles instead of to where we wanted to pass. It added two hours of travel.

We stopped at the curb so Edmund could look at Google Map, to find and feel his bearing. Google was directing us to a road parallel to I-58 so we followed that. It would lead us to the same point, Barstow. Yes, it should, only if there was a road. But no more road, it’s still waiting to be built. That explained why we’ve been running for at least an hour and there was no other car in sight. Not in front of us, not behind us, not in the opposite lane.

True, but we were going nowhere near our destination. After two hours of running, we’re still in Los Angeles?

Waze helped us get back on the main road. We now have a company.

After two more hours, the surroundings began to look like Nevada.

We stopped for gas and for Starbucks. While waiting for our hot beverages, I stretched and stretched every inch of my body. I bended my waist, legs, lahat na, para akong contortionist.

After 13 hours of traveling, we finally reached Las Vegas at 9:40 pm. First stop was to have dinner — hot ramen noodles at Ohjah!
