On August 26, 2013, Oh My Buhay’s counter registered 4,000,000 clicks. That’s not the number of my readers. Those are just the number of times my blog site was viewed or clicked. Others call it page views. Even if you found my post boring, it’s still counted.

There are days that only a few click it, maybe 5,000 or 7,000. In some days, there are a lot.

I have never expected that my personal blog would have regular readers. Some are friends of my daughter, some are my relatives, some are our employees who are curious where we are. When we are away, hala, pwede ng maglakwatsa. Some are former classmates of mine, some are friends, acquaintances, and there are also strangers. I have also gained new friends. Former strangers who by fate or circumstance found my blog, and now, they are no longer strangers to me. They comment every now and then, and I somehow feel they are my friends or relatives.

I met a Fil-Am on the flight from SFO to Manila. She told me she doesn’t add anymore new friends. She’s contented with about a dozen friends from way back, her high school days in Iloilo. She said she doesn’t need to add more.

I am her opposite.
I added lots of Facebook friends although I don’t know them personally. Basta I suspect they’re from Binangonan or originally from our town, I added them, although now, I stopped doing that. I don’t want to offend them by not saying hello when I bump into them. So my request is to pls say hi to me when you see me in person and pls introduce yourself. I do that all the time when I see people. I do not presume that they remember me so I always introduce myself.

I am violating the “do not talk to strangers” safety rule by keeping my diary open to the public (toooooo public) and blogging about my personal life. But I don’t feel that way. I feel I am just chronicling my buhay and sharing it with people who probably have the same day to day experiences and concerns, although I can only count those who make their presence felt by sending their comments or clicking LIKE. Either way, thank you.
