5 trips to Cardinal Santos - Oh My Buhay

5 trips to Cardinal Santos

My stomach was giving me continuous discomfort a day after the party. The pain moved around until it concentrated on my upper right rib case.

I left the office at 5 pm hoping to catch a doctor or the ultrasound department but I arrived in the hospital at 6:35 pm.
Although the ultrasound counter was still open, umuwi na daw yung mga in-charge.

Cardinal Santos Hospital lobby looks like an art gallery. Their foundation sells paintings to raise funds for their charity wards.

I fasted beginning at midnight. My clock alarmed at 7:30 am, Edmund said “sino’ng tumatawag s’yo?”
I told him I set the alarm because I am going to the hospital.
I had a complete blood test, whole abdomen and breast scans.

Whole abdomen ultrasound.

It’s very cold inside the ultrasound room. The more I feel very cold when they squeeze the cold gel on my stomach.

There were several doctors that conducted the ultrasound. They found a small cyst in my liver, kaya they called a more senior male doctor.
I told him I have nagging pains in the stomach especially on the right side, just below my rib case.

he asked if I ate fatty foods the day before or a few hours after the pain started.    Yes I did.   Beef Caldereta 4x.

Me—— Doc, do I need to have my gall stones removed?
Doc—– Hindi naman pero, pag sumakit emergency.
Me—– Have you heard of the apple juice thing?
But case to case…
Me—— so Doc, hindi na nagpa opera si Doctora?
Doc—– Hindi na
Me—— Her gallstones disappeared? All of it?
Doc—– Patay na sya. Hindi ko agad masabi sa yo.
Me—— Oh.

For the pelvic, kailangan weewing-weewee ako. They told me to drink 4 glasses of water then wait till I feel so pee, come back after 45 minutes. I said “ok”.

As soon as I went outside the ultrasound room, I went straight to the toilet and pee. After I peed, at saka ko lang naalala na I’m not supposed to pee yet. Patay, it’s going to take more time to fill up my bladder.

I went to the canteen and bought buko juice. I finished one big cup of pure buko juice without any ice, water or sugar.
Hindi pa ako na wee wee so I went back to buy another cup but they ran out. Shake na lang daw ang meron.

Me—— buko juice, yung walang sugar
Buko Lady- anong size?
Me—— yung medium
Me—— Miss, bakit mo nilalagyan ng syrup? di ba sabi ko walang sugar?
Buko Lady– Hindi sugar yan, syrup.
Buko Lady— Walang sugar yan
Me——— wag mong lagyan ng kahit ano.
Buko Lady— Walang lasa, matabang
Me———- Miss, ako ang iinom, hindi ikaw.

AFter drinking two cups of juice, I still don’t feel pee, I bought again.

I was third in line. The first one ordered mixed buko and mango shake, the second girl ordered buko shake.
Girl # 1—- Miss etong bayad. (She went to sit at a table while sipping her buko shake)
Girl # 2—- Miss, bakit yellow ito? Hindi ito ang order ko.
Buko lady— Ay, nagkamali, yun ang nakuha nung……. (she got out of her cubicle and brought the buko mango shake to where Girl #1 is.
Me———- Miss, ininum na nya. (she didn’t mind me, she continued walking and grabbed the buko shake on the table of Girl #1.
Girl #1—- Nainom ko na!
Buko Lady walked back to her cubicle with the buko mango shake.
Me——— Miss, ininum na ba nya yan?

I waited for another 45 minutes before all the procedures were finished.

I arrived in the office at 1:30 pm and interviewed some applicants for accounting and DCRC.

I went back to CArdinal Santos after work to get the results but the Women’s Care center was already closed.
Na-traffic na naman ako. I arrived in Cardinal at 7 pm

018

I gave my receipts to the Radiology counter to claim the abdomen ultrasound results. The receipt for the breast ultrasound is also attached to it.
The guy found my abdomen results. He was flipping thru the file looking for the breast results.

Guy—– Miss, wala dito ang breast mo….

019

As I was leaving the hospital, I texted Edmund that we don’t have food at home. He said it’s fine.
I got home at 7:30 pm feeling exhausted. I found this cold tray of sliced oranges. I finished all this in one sweep.

021

Still hungry, I made some salad of feta cheese, lettuce, arugula, basil, pomelo.

I went back to the Cardinal the following morning to get my breast ultrasound results. I went to the clinic of Dr. Palafox to show him the results but there were too many patients waiting and his secretary was busy attending to the patients.
I left and went to the office where three job applicants were waiting for their final interviews.

I was back in Cardinal at 4:15 pm and Dr. Palafox has no more patients. He and his secretary Chat were actually done but were just waiting for me.
Me—— Doc, meron akong cyst sa liver.
Doc—– ano ba ang naka lagay (he reads the result)… tingnan nga natin yung last year.

Me—– Maybe I should start taking medication
Just avoid refined sugar. Ice cream, cake.

(Goodbye J Lo- J Lo and J.CO donuts)
