Our hotel is two minutes walk to the historic six hundred year old Charles Bridge, also called Prague Bridge or Stone Bridge which crosses the Vitava River.
I saw a romantic gondola a la Venice slowly maneuvering under a small portion of the river. Iikot lang yun dun sa may gilid tapos balik na. Pang turista lang.
I am happy I chanced upon this gondola ride. It seems like a fun touristic thing to do but I am scared to ride a boat that thin because I can’t swim.
Charles Bridge is decorated with statues and I was surprised to find Jesus on the cross somewhere in the middle.
Gothic statues, darkened by pollution and time.
The weather was perfect on this day. It was cold but sunny. Napapagod lang ako konti pagbihis, doble-doble. I feel like a walking comforter.
The bridge is open to pedestrians only. Crossing the 600 meters long bridge normally takes 5 minutes but because tourists stop for photos, another 10 minutes is required, this is according to the hotel concierge. Which proved true because every single tourist stopped for photos.
Mga kababayan ko, hindi syempre tayo pahuhuli sa selfies.
Posing for the camera actually stresses me out. Patanda ng patanda, pahirap ng pahirap magpose, merong kasamang dasal sana maganda ako sa picture.
“Is it nice, is it nice? May I see? Oh never mind”.
Add additional minutes if you want to go shopping along the way because there are vendors selling art, trinkets, flutes, etc.
If you want to have your portrait done, then you need an hour more.
I bought a CD to show appreciation for their music.
We reached the other side in 15 minutes.
There are some quaint shops too in this area but this place is relatively quieter, with a lot less tourists.
This store sells sobrang cute angels made of wood, pero ang hirap namang iuwi kasi ang bigat. I felt bad not buying. Mura lang pa naman, Euro 30 per box of 4 angels/ candle holder. Maganda sanang ipangregalo this Christmas. Nahinayang ako talaga.
