When I came home last night at 6 pm, I asked Antonia if her boyfriend had already booked plane tickets.
She said he had a huge problem. I knew it already. This was a scam.
A—- “Ano ang problema nya? Nanghihingi sa’yo ng pera?”
Antonia is sad, but she can handle it. She’s a grown woman.
The guy’s story was preposterous. I have seen too many Netflix documentaries that’s why I know.
Kesyo-kesyo he’s opening a bank account in Thailand where the $300,000,000 would be deposited by the Ministry of Thailand’s ek ek. The bank requires a minimum deposit of $5,500. Aba, may butal pa. And he already deposited $5,000 but he needs $500 more, which he was trying to extract from Antonia. Hahahaha, heheheh, hihihihi. Antonia told him she has no money, that’s equivalent to P25,000 which she doesn’t have. She told him “Now I am sad”. Antonia was brilliant, she knew. The guy tried to convince her by promising to pay her back. He asked for her credit card. Sorry dude, she has no American Express, or Visa, or Mastercard. Antonia started Googling internet scams and found a story about an old woman from Cebu who lost more than P200,000 to a similar love scam.
These crooks target senior citizens who are more prone and vulnerable. They are mostly living alone, with some money, and are longing for attention. And, are not techies. They are easy to give out bank account details, credit card numbers especially to someone they’ve emotionally connected with for several months. Kala nila love sila talaga.
Antonia is heartbroken. Nanghinayang sya dun sa una nyang nakilala daw na Americano from Dallas, Texas. Ipinasa nya daw sa dati naming labandera kasi she found him too young for her. The American guy is renting a house for our former labandera and her three children and he pays for all their expenses.
I told her don’t give money to those guys pretending to be in love with her. Nakakatakot baka dalhin sya sa abroad and biktimahin lang, gawing prostitute. Baka yung nude photos nya ibenta.
I wish her true happiness.
I wish true love will find Antonia.
