We are scheduled to travel to Madrid and Seville, Spain, to experience one of the most unique Semana Santa (Holy Week) celebrations in the world.
Matagal ko na itong gustong gawin. But every Holy Week, I have a panata in Binangonan, so I always postponed this dream.
This year, however, I finally decided to take a short leave from my commitment in our town and do something I have long wanted to experience—go to Spain and witness Holy Week there.
Aileen and Bong are all set——- jackets packed, round-trip tickets purchased, and hotels booked. They can start packing and getting excited. It was I who invited them to join us in spending Holy Week in Spain.
Edmund and I also have our Emirates tickets purchased and hotels booked. But now, the foolish decisions of evil men who started this massive war are changing our travel plans. Dubai airport has been bombed, and the flight routes have become a war zone. No one would dare fly through it unless they were ready to say goodbye to this world.
Yesterday, the travel agent tried to help me look for alternative routes. Cathay Pacific, ANA, Korean Air, Air France, KLM—every business class seat was fully booked. There were two seats left on KLM, but at $8,000 per person. And before I could even make a decision, the seats disappeared from the screen.
Today, I will try one last time to find flights to and from Spain.
Our world is a unique and majestic place. God provided everything humans need to flourish. He also gifted us with intelligence—not artificial intelligence, not AI, but real intellect, complete with emotions to keep our egos in check. The human body also comes with a soul that serves as our truth-keeper, giving us the capacity to feel guilt.
But what are these egoistic, power-hungry men doing? Destroying everything. They bring chaos and destruction.
How can a few men make the lives of the whole of mankind miserable? Why do we allow that to happen? Soon our world may be decimated. For what? For what purpose?
Aren’t you supposed to vote first before going into war?
We still want to live on Earth—on a peaceful Earth—where there is love and respect. A place where mankind can explore ideas and create things for the common good. We want to live simply and quietly, smiling, laughing, and hugging our families.
I have two grandchildren— three years old and six months old. They deserve the chance to live full lives. I want to be there when they walk up on stage to receive their kindergarten certificates, their diplomas. I want to watch them grow.
God please save us.
