Edmund was forced to accompany me to the Mines View Park instead of resting after his golf game because our driver was so pentium 1. Going out of the hotel grounds already stressed me out so I went back to the hotel and picked husband up.
When Edmund told me there’s nothing more to see in Mines View Park, he was not kidding. I didn’t see any PARK, just rows of shanties selling all sorts of things. There were several picture stations with Saint Bernard dogs. The shanties’ straw covers and strings even block the tourists’ pathways. If one is not careful, your face could get entangled with these straws.
What happened to this Baguio landmark? Why did the local government allow this to happen? And please look at that structure that has been photographed million times. Hindi man lang ayusin at i-maintain. Look at the basura. Look everywhere.
Big signs welcoming tourists to Mines View.
Baguio is all out promoting the Panagbenga Festival. They spend money to ensure the festival’s success year after year. One equally important Baguio icon has been neglected. The Mines View Park is not just a once a year festivity. It has a long history and is an important part of the history of Baguio. It only takes minimum effort and expense to preserve and maintain this Baguio icon, plus a lot of common sense and good taste.
