(Aug 21 Iloilo)
We went to Roberto’s snack house in JM Basa Street because Julienne heard that their siopao is really good.
We’re very full from the buffet breakfast so we really did not have any appetite to eat siopao but since masarap daw then we wanted to try it. There’s a menu board at the entrance of Roberto’s and we saw the word BONGACIOUS in the menu. We suspected that someone gay must have put that word in there.
The posters’ design are also kind of girly
We ordered halo-halo (more like fruit cocktail with shaved ice). Edmund ordered one King siopao which we all shared. It had a combination of egg, pork, chicken and was really good. The dough was soft and had generous amount of asado sauce. They don’t have the Queen Siopao daily because of the irregularity of the special ingredients’s supply.
Me——- Siguro yun si Roberto
Me—— Wait lang, I’ll go ask him…
I walked over to the cashier..
A——– “Hi, are you Roberto?”
No, Roberto is my brother.
A———“Ow, sorry, I thought you are Roberto…
He’s my older brother, he has passed….
Me again—–“Ow sorry. What is your name?”
I AM CLAUDIA.
A———–“Gloria?”
KLODYA
A———– Gloria?
No, KLODIYA….
A——— Claudia, ahh Claudia, ow sorry.
Hi I’m Annie. We’re visiting from Manila. Why is your Queen Siopao not always available?
“Kasi…. there are no ingredients……..”
A———Let’s have our picture taken?
Basta ayoko pang facebook
Edmund—- Bakit?
Claudia—- Eh kasi mas maganda sya sa akin. (laughs)
I love reading this. Roberto’s is actually an icon in Iloilo.
