Lolo Dad's in Malate - Oh My Buhay

My daughter’s Lolo Dad‘s discounted coupon worth P2,000 is expiring so we had lunch there last thursday August 30. I was actually the one who told her to buy the coupon because I thought that’s at Lolo Dad‘s in Makati. The one owned by Tonyboy Cojuangco, the one where our group always had meetings. Only when we were planning when to redeem it that we noticed the address in the coupon- Malate.
It’s no big deal because it’s actually near our office.

It was a good time to try their food because I didn’t have a good breakfast. I had trouble getting ready for work. I was too lazy to pick a nice outfit, because 97% of my clothes don’t fit. I also did not have a good night’s sleep.

I am wearing a new perfume scent. I bought this last month in the US for everyday wear.

Maybe a fancy meal would lift my spirits up a bit.

The P2,000 worth of food issupposed to be  for the four of us. We’re thinking of going maybe for dinner on a weekend.  But the coupon has restrictions, we cannot use it on weekends and holidays. So it’s just Julienne and I that went on a weekday and for lunch.

When I saw the P2,000 amount, I doubted if we would be able to consume it.

Lolo Dad‘s is located along Pres. Quirino Avenue in Malate. I am very familiar with this area because last December 2011 and January 2012, I distributed old clothes and nochebuena packs here. The surrounding area has thousands of squatters and street people.

The restaurant is on the ground floor of the pre-war ancestral house owned by the family of Conrado “Lolo Dad” Ayuyao which was built in 1941.

Lolo Dad’s Cafe opened for business on Valentine’s Day of 2000. It’s managed by Christopher and Carminia Ayuyao- Manuel and her husband chef Ariel Manuel.

It has an entirely different interior decoration from Lolo Dad’s Brasserie.

On top of the P2,000 paid coupon,  I paid extra P800 for our meal.   It was well worth it except that we got caught in a heavy traffic going back to the office. We’ll be back within this year with Edmund and Marvin.
