Taal Heritage Town - Oh My Buhay

(This is a delayed post- August 26, 2012)

We thought of postponing our visit to the biggest church in Asia, also known as the Taal Basilica because Oyen wasn’t feeling well but she said she would be alright. She probably did not want to dampen her dad’s birthday celebration.

We left Sonya’s at 3:30 pm and arrived at Taal Basilica at 4:30 pm . It was a good hour although it did not seem that far except that you can’t really drive any faster because of the zigzag and you pass thru inner barrios and the town proper.

We passed by Fantasyworld.

This is my first time to visit the Taal Heritage town.  I am truly impressed with the way the town has preserved their heritage.  The number of Spanish colonial homes still existing around town are clear proof that Taal has many rich and  prominent residents called Ilustrados.   According to their history,  many Spanish mansions  were razed to the ground by American soldiers when they burned Taal and its surrounding areas.  Good some of the houses were saved.
