Our first official Turkey tour started on May 23, 2013.
I would consider this day as bus tour and alikabok inhalation day.
We spent more time inside the bus than outside.
After three hours more or less of sleeping, Candy Crush, sleeping, Candy Crush, our bus finally arrived in Troy.
Remember Helen of Troy? No? O sige, how about Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and Eric Bana?
Okay, let’s start.
First encounter, one lethargic dog lying on the pavement, being licked by a bigger dog.
A small payloader truck was moving soil, with the strong wind creating a mini twister of alikabok.
I wrapped my head with a scarf to prevent sun, wind and alikabok
to get into my newly shampooed hair.
The wind blew Edmund’s reading glasses off his eyes. He only noticed after about half-hour.
He could not see the camera screen clearly.
“Tart, ulit, kalahati lang ulo namin”.
There was really nothing to see here. You just need a good imagination- kunwari nadyan yung mga chariots, sakay si Brad Pitt, hina-hunting si Eric Bana.
it turned into a beauty. A beautiful insect.
Wala ngang makita, except for distant views. Kaya puro photo op na lang. Yung red wildflower, nice no?

Nanay ko, nalimutan ko ang tawag sa puno na ito…. tila walnut tree.
Buti na lang mahilig ako sa marbles, granite, at mga bato, kundi mababato ako dito. Nothing to do and see.
Ruins of ancient civilization. Bawal iuwi ang mga bato, kita mo merong number?
Baka you haven’t seen ancieent stones, rocks, and clay. Hayan oh, made in Turkey yan.
I asked my son to pitas one fig for me. Sobra pala itong ma-dakta (sap).
Yesterday, I;ve seen a female Japanese tourist taking pictures of the cat outside the Grand Bazaar, ito rin palang anak ko. siguro nga cats are photo magnets.
Come kitty kitty.
Tour guide tried his best to make our minds imagine what this place was like thousands of years ago by giving us a lecture on ancient history.
Wala akong ma-imagine, jet lag pa ako. Reminded me of Mahabang Parang in Binangonan instead.
Oyen lost her yellow scarf the following day.
Turkish people hate Greeks according to Ali. Greece attempted to conquer Istanbul. They could not beat the Turks, they asked a manghuhula. He advised the king to build a wooden horse, and hide soldiers inside. The Turkish soldiers guarding the palace concluded that the giant wooden horse was a gift from the Kind of Greece as peace offering, so they brought it inside the fortified gates. They started drinking. When they were already drank, in the middle of the night, 17 soldiers came out of the wooden horse and killed the Turkish soldiers. They opened the gates and let thouaands more soldiers in.
I didn’t pay much attention to what Ali had said about the history of Troy. Mabuti i- Google nyo na lang or better still, watch all the movies, basta about Troy. Or read the World History book by Gregorio F. Zaide.
Ali kicked a small creature to help it turn upside down. Napasigaw ako, akala ko kung ano, yung pala a baby turtle,
Edmund picket it up and gave it water.
He became an instant celebrity when several tourists appraoched him to take a picture of his hand with the turtle.
A replica of the Trojan Horse designed by Turkish artist Izzet Senemoglu.
Sobang tarik nung hagdan.
to be continued..
Annie, wow I really loved that detailed story telling and nice pics….parang kasama na rin ako:) And as always, I love your sense of humor…esp yung baro at panty!!! Sige kuwento ka pa!!! I can imagine Edmund’s face habang nililipad ang baro mo:)
