Ngayon pa lang ako masisilayan ng araw at madadampian ng heat wave New York style.
And why am I bringing my Victorinox carry-on? Because I am going to Chelsea to hunt for antiques. What antiques? What else? Pi el ey ti i es.
Oyen—— “Ma, what if you don’t find anything? You have to carry that around”.
Me——– “Knowing me, I will definitely find something”.
Oyen—— “You’ll be under pressure to buy something”.
Me——– “Hm, no”.
Me——– “Anak, are we walking or taking the subway? Magkukuha ako ng photos”.
The apartment building we’re staying at is centrally located. There’s Starbucks, park, salon, grocery across the street.
I’ve seen a lot of men collecting empty plastic and softdrinks bottles from garbage bins. They sell this by the kilo. Teka, kilo ba sa America? Hindi pala, LBS.
We went down to the subway.
Me——– “Ang panghiiii”.
I got a $10 Metro ticket good for about 5 rides. I used my dollar coins to come up with the $10 value. My daughter was very patient with me.
Imagine, I was dropping 5 cents (penny), 10 cents (dime), 25 cents (quarters), one by one and it was taking several minutes, then when it was $8 in total, the next coin got stuck, I pressed a button, and all the $8 we had dropped came out! We had to do it all over again. I have to give my daughter a medal for being so patient with her probinsyana mother.
Siguro I brought one kilo of dollar coins, naipon sa mga trips eh sayang naman. I have to get rid of them, ang bigat-bigat ano!

New York Subway

It’s almost 3 pm and we haven’t had breakfast and lunch. There’s a Chipotle at the corner of 25th St. and __ Ave. We ate muna before going to the Antique Sunday Market.

There are a lot of garbage all over the streets. Siguro they would be collected tomorrow.
There were not too many vendors today, and not many customers. Kasi daw the vendors have a long July 4 weekend, and some don’t want to go out because of the heat wave.
On the other side of the street is a small 3 story building with expensive antiques and original art. I discovered two stores on the second floor owned by the same group, specializing in expensive bags such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes. They have a roomful of Hermes, both pre-owned and brand new, priced at $11,000 to $16,000. You can ask for discounts.
