Pinangat na Dalag, always - Oh My Buhay

Pinangat na Dalag, always

Edmund and I had lunch at Bahay Kawayan restaurant in Taytay last Wednesday, Sept 11.
There were only a few tables occupied but it was very noisy in the air conditioned room. Buti na lang the 4 guys who were engaged in an animated conversation left after 15 minutes.

I ordered Tinadtad na mangga. Ang konti. Before our rice arrived, I have finished this whole plate.

Tinadtad na mangga

The pinangat na dalag was so good. I told the waiter to pick the biggest and fattest dalag so that there’s a better chance that it has eggs. Meron nga.

I took the buntot, while the head went to Edmund. He also had crispy hito and hipon sa gata but I forgot to take photos. As soon as they served the dalag, I just focused on eating and avoiding the tinik. Eating dalag requires some skills. You cannot be too eager or lazy, or else the tinik would end up in your throat. When we were still living in Binangonan, my father had many episodes of tinik getting stuck in his throat after eating dalag.

I was able to avoid sugar only for 3 days, after that, eto na naman.
Halo-halo for me.
