October 18, 2013 Friday, London
While Edmund was watching BBC the morning of October 18, they announced that Paul McCartney would be going to HMV in Oxford Street to sign autographs to promote his new album NEW.
A———- “Oxford? Pupunta tayo Tart, si Paul McCartney”.
E———- “Alamin mo na kung saan”.
A——— “Alam ko yang Oxford Street, malapit sa Cheshire”.
Every 15 minutes, BBC kept on reminding fans that McCartney would be in HMV.
I checked his site and it said at 3 pm. Dali-dali akong naligo.
We walked about 15 minutes to the HMV in Oxford Street. Walang tao. Yun pala there’s another HMV on the same road but near Bond Street. Lakad uli kami for about 10 minutes. We stopped a few times to make sure we’re on the right direction. Mahaba kasi yang Oxford Street.
Finally, eto na. We could tell kasi there were barricades to control the fans.
Fans waiting for Paul McCartney
We entered the store and I bought a copy of his new CD “New”. I inquired about the signing, eh hindi naman pala ako pwede kasi only those who won wristbands that morning would be allowed to have autographs. I was also told that all customers would be asked to leave the store before Paul arrives.
After I paid for the CD, Edmund and I went out of the store and just positioned ourselves behind the barricade. We were thinking that at least, we would catch a glimpse when he enters the store.
I made sure my camera was all set.
Husband patiently waited for the wife and Paul McCartney, too.
Half past two, we were let in. My energy battery was already running low. There was confusion as with regards to the store’s arrangement, Would we be allowed to get closer to the stage or not. It was so hot inside. It was such a small store and the air was becoming stale. I was already feeling faint. At saka two hours ko ng pinipigil ang weewee ko.
And he’s here, right on the dot at PM. He came pala from Covent Garden. They did an impromptu mini concert on a truck. Sayang, Covent Garden was closer to our hotel and it would have been great seeing him perform before my very eyes.
Di bale, seeing him in person is already a blessing.
I couldn’t see, ang tatangkad ng mga tao. There’s woman standing beside me. I was up to her shoulders. I asked her “How tall are you?” She said 6’2. I asked if she could see Paul, she said NO because people were holding up their cameras.
“What more me?”
Edmund had a better view. He called me to transfer to where he was. I still couldn’t see. He’s 6’1, there’s such a big difference.
Poor husband, he had to carry his fat wife.
Man standing near us———- “Is that her daughter?”
Man #1 ———————– “Yeah, he had to carry her”.
man #3———————— “Can you please take a picture for me?”
Yehey, I’ve seen Paul McCartney.
The crowd was briefed that he would only sign autograph on his NEW CD, and not on any other memorabilia. His signature alone on any surface would increase the value of that surface by at least a thousand pounds. Kahit tissue paper yan, it would become valuable.
When Edmund went out, I followed after a few minutes. I saw this woman fainted from exhaustion.
We arrived from Manila on the afternoon of Oct 17. We’re leaving for Scotland on the 19th. The one day that we would be in London was the 18th, and perfect timing pa- we saw Paul McCartney. What were the chances?
Parang pinagtiyap ng tadhana ang landas namin.
What a blessing. Thank you Lord.
omg! Si Paul McCartney!
Annie, kung ikaw andun sa harap ni Paul at kausap ka nya, pano na? 🙂
