Chinese New Year preparation

Chinese New Year this year is on January 31 friday. Instead of inviting close relatives, Edmund and I are going to invite a few friends and their families. I will prepare a simple siomai and siopao kitchen counter buffet dinner for 12 people plus the four of us. Unless my children will have one or two friends joining us, then the total number would be 18. Basta less than 20 kasi we only have a small living room and we don’t have a garden.

Edmund kasi wants to invite daw Elmer and his family, and Zaldy and kids. I requested him to include in his guest list, Chino Raymundo.

I reminded him that we don’t have a formal dining room, sa kitchen lang kami kumakain.
If okay lang.

Guests who want to come over must be cowboys. Bawal ang maarte dito sa bahay namin. Ako lang ang maarte dito, dapat wala ng iba.

Chinese New Year, then it has to be Chinese food. Edmund said not to serve sugpo, alimango, and bangus because Zaldy and Elmer own a palaisdaan and sawa na sila sa sugpo, crabs and milkfish. So, what else can I serve? Tokwa, pansit, hototay, para feel na feel na Chinese.

I had the Christmas tree trimmings removed.

I am thinking of hanging hopia, butchi. Ano pa kaya? Kikiam?

Today, I am going to Ongpin to buy an accent piece for our door. I cannot use na pala my old pansabit kasi it’s now Year of the Horse.

I always go to Ongpin talaga every year to buy something for our front door.

The area has lots of hustlers kaya dapat dress down. I will wear tsinelas, shorts and this butas butas na blouse. This is fairly new actually, nabutas ng lavandera.

Change bag din, eto luma and I must scatter my cash, no wallet din. Only make up kit. But no wearing of make-up.

I must have some cash in my pocket in case they snatched my bag.

Why do they make the butas ng karayom so small and the thread so wide?

My mom used to tell me I should never sew my dress while I am wearing it. Or else I would give birth to a baby na walang butas ang pwet. Although hindi na ako manganganak, mahubad na nga rin at ang hirap magsulsi na nakatagilid.

Our immediate neighbor is building a new house, kaya maingay dito.

The noise is further aggravated by MWSS’s current construction work- upgrading of our village’s water pipelines. Grabe ang vibration. My head and stomach fats are shaking. I really have to get out of the house now. It feels like I am in Megaworld’s construction site.
