Lunch in Obika at LA RINASCENTE

June 2, 2014, Milan

Our hotel is beside the upscale department store L RINASCENTE.   And when I say beside,  it’s really a few steps away.  Hotel Straf’s door is right in front of the store’s door.

It’s a seven floor building with the top floor occupied by restaurants and food stalls.

Is it weird? shoes beside macaroons? All these shoes are made of chocolates, Cacao-lab.

We went around looking for food. We wanted Japanese but they only have sushi, yung nasa gitna na conveyor, andar ng andar yung mga sushi.

We decided on Obika, it’s on the roof top terrace overlooking the Duomo.

The structure is too close to my face, para bang pwede kong hawakan.

Obika has a mozzarella bar inside the building but the dining is in the terrace.

We ordered black mushroom truffles (real, big truffles!), and chorizo.

Oyen paid Euro 53. Or did I pay? We gave 5 euro tip.

Instead of ordering from the restaurant, we bought Coca cola from one of the food stalls also on the same floor to save money. Kasi the price is double in the restaurant eh the beverage ref is only a few steps away.
I got attracted to the cute packaging of Acqua di Caccao, produced from Thailand.

I bought one. Pearl Water coconut water.

Not content, we looked for Grom pa to cap our lunch.
There were lot of people in line.

We went to the adjacent gelato store instead.

In less than an hour, my stomach started acting up. It started as a mild gas pain, but after an hour more, I couldn’t stand the pain anymore. Although I put white flower on my belly, ang sakit talaga. I couldn’t even look at shops, I just sat down anywhere I could, while waiting for my daughter and son who were looking at the nice shops.

I was glad our hotel was less than 5 minutes walk from where we were. Nauna na ako, tila ako mahihimatay sa sakit. When I reached our room, I threw up (pardonne). Nagka labu-labo yung kinain ko, sa katakawan kasi. Tila nag-away si coconut water at si gelato. Waakkk.
