Maids left us again - Oh My Buhay

Maids left us again

I was sick for a week and syempre sa bahay lang ako.

Twice I asked our cook to make arroz caldo. I asked them to fry potato chips 2x, one in the afternoon, and another time, late at night, like 10 pm.

Oyen came home with lots of green mangoes. When they’re getting over ripe na, Edmund told me to have them juiced na lang.

Me to Kusinera ——– “sobrang hinog na itong mga mangga, gawin mo na lang juice”.
Kusinera————— “Ngayon na ba yan?”
Me——————— “Kahit mamaya, pag hindi ka busy”.
(As if she’s busy.)

After a day, the last batch was over ripe so I requested her to juice them.
Me ——————– “Paki shake mo din ito, tila sobrang hinog na”.
Kusinera————— “Ngayon na ba yan?”
Me——————— “Hmmm, hindi naman rush”.

For a little more than two weeks, they had an easier life. Edmund was by himself and for sure that he ate out for lunch and dinner. His breakfasts were light and he only take crackers for lunch in an effort to shed off some pounds.

Watching tv, Ipad games, cellphone babad and chatting consumed our maids’ days.
Even when we are around, they do that anyway. Not once did we call their attention while they’re watching tv.

But even while I was sick, I was the least demanding. I would get my own water and tea. I never asked them to bring up to the room a glass of water. I always get my own water. For one whole week, tila 4 x lang akong nag-utos. Yung arroz caldo, potato chips, and juice.

I’ve mentioned it before, every time we came back from a long holiday, our maids leave.
Eto na naman.
Siguro nasanay walang mga ginagawa at walang nag-uutos.

My daughter was analyzing the rationale behind this phenomenon.

Maybe we don’t feed them well. Maybe we don’t pay them well. Maybe we don’t treat them too well. Maybe they simply don’t like us.

Cook and gown girl left a week after we arrived from Europe.

It’s a tiring exercise- bags inspection. I’ve seen two of our towels among their clothes, okay lang.

As far as I know, we are considerate employers. We are the ones adjusting to them.

Eto namang si Liza, a few hours lang pinaalis ko na. After she arrived, wala, nasa harap lang ng tv at text ng text. Tapos the next morning, when her workmates asked her to assist in cleaning, ayaw na, masama daw pakiramdam nya, humiga na lang. At isinumbong nung mga kasamahan nya, mataray daw. I gave her money so she could go back to the agency.
When I asked two people to assist her with her bag and to accompany her to the gate, ayaw, she knows her way around daw. When I interviewed her, she told me she has never been to our village, tapos kabisado pala nya kalye dito.

If we live in a small condo, we don’t need maids na. Pero I told Edmund kailangan tig dalawang pirasong damit lang kami at tig dalawang pares na sapatos para magkasya sa condo.
