Men are supposed to be the haligi ng tahanan.  We  draw our strengths from them.  But if they’re sick, we feel frustrated not being able to cure them with our magic touch that works well with our children.  But with husbands, fathers,  it’s heartbreaking to watch them lay helpless.  It must be doubly hard for them   not to be in control.  Not to be physically strong.  They are supposed to be the men,  because they are truly the stronger sex.

As I moved around Ward 3,  I felt a little awkward.  Not because this is an all male patients department, but because these guys reminded me of my deceased father and my deceased brother.  They got sick, then died.

I tried not to be affected.  I made them feel that everything’s alright.
As usual most of then greeted me happy birthday.

Every time I would say “Magpagaling ka ha?”  or “Sana gumaling ka agad”,  I meant those words from the bottom of my heart,  but I knew too that one, two , or three of them would not make it till Christmas.   But we just keep on believing and wishing that they would get better and their lives would return to normal.

We were about to cross the gate when I spotted this woman in a wheelchair. I told my assistant to run and give her a box of Jollibee. The little boy told him “ako rin”.
My staff ran to the van and ran back to give the boy his own. Buti na lang meron pa kaming 2 boxes and two soft drinks.

I saw the woman wiping her tears. I hope those were tears of joy, that someone came by to give them some food.

With those boxes, come my wish that whatever difficulties they are going through would soon pass and better things would come.

  1. May the good Lord bless your kind heart more OMB, so you may continue to be a blessing to others! “Each time you share the goodness in your heart, you always end up winning… Cause life is an echo… It gives back what you give”
