Pansit and Chacha by Antonia

I am beginning to like Antonia. I think she has a good personality. She’s sweet and kind. I can’t say that yet to her cooking. We are still adjusting to each other’s cooking styles. I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen because she’s not yet in tune with our eating and food preferences.

She used to own a carinderia in Bicol. her customers were students and jeepney drivers. She told me her inlaws got jealous so inagaw sa kanya yung carinderia.

This is her pansit. Medyo mabibilakuan kami sa tigas nung noodles. Kulang sa tubig.

While I was in the study room, she came up to me:

Antonia———–“Mam, ang talent ko talaga pag-sayaw”.
Omb————— “Oh wow, anong sayaw? Modern?”
Antonia———– “Chacha, Boogie..”.
Omb————— “Sayang wala kaming tugtog na chacha”.
Antonia———– “Foxtrot. Dapat me kapareho mam”.
Omb————— “Pumunta ka sa baba, turuan mo yung mga lalaki, partner kayo ni Nars”.
Antonia———– “Dapat mam may music”.

She said she learned the steps from her father. He was barangay captain and they always got invited to parties and fiestas where there’s always dancing.

Dance it away

  1. Ms OMB your maids are funny. I enjoy reading stories and anecdotes about your everyday life. Thank you for sharing . I am grateful to have found your blog. I would be depressed if you stop posting. God bless you more.

  2. Im sure Antonia makes you smile:) Dont mind nlang her cooking too much, im sure she will improve in time. But at least you have ‘entertainment’ at home, after a long toxic day at work. Enjoy your weekend!

  3. Antonia really seems like she has a good personality! I agree that she will learn how to cook in time, Ms. Annie. I sent our former help to 25 Mushrooms cooking classes for kasambahays in Valle 5. She did not know how to cook at all, but after taking the classes grabe we ate (and are still eating) good food everyday. The recipes are easy to follow that she was able to teach her replacement everything so we didn’t have to send her to classes again. I highly recommend 25 Mushrooms!
