We were privileged and honored by the visit of Mr. Dave Schoch and his wife Carol last Saturday, July 26, 2014.
Dave is the big boss of Ford Motor Company’s Asia Pacific Region. They are based in Shanghai but he travels a lot visiting Ford dealers all over the region.
Dave’s last visit to the Philippines was 10 years ago.
Initially, I thought they would just make a quick visit early morning. But their schedule was moved in the afternoon at 1 pm. I was scheduled to go to Binangonan that day. Upon my husband’s request, I postponed my sched and went to Makati Ford instead.
I bought flowers for Carol and some handicrafts made of coconut husks and bamboo. I saw a beautiful tissue box which I thought would be perfect for Kay Hart Ford’s country director.
It was past 1 pm and they weren’t there yet.
While waiting, I noticed how dusty our aircon units were.
Maalikabok talaga plus our cleaners and people are oblivious to dirt around them.
Even with dozens of people, not one would care to notice things like this. Even if an officer is tasked to make sure the showroom is spotless, wala ring effect because she couldn’t spot the dirt. Tingin nila our showroom is spotless but it’s definitely not.
@ 2pm we were all anxiously waiting.
My daughter took this photo. She was laughing kasi mukha akong naluging magtitinda ng tinapa. I was a little inip na and I wanted to get out of my Amir Sali dress! It used to be loose pero ngayon ang sikep sa bewang.
Customer Service team- Mel, Sunny, Cristy, and Carmela
Eto na sila
Our guests were genuinely friendly and nice. Dave went around shaking hands with our people. Here with Cristy, DCRC staff.
With Service Manager Ike. Mabait itong si Ike and because he’s good-natured, people around him feel that. My problem with him is his conversational skills.
He begins and ends his sentences with “Dangan kasi, ano nga, si ano si kwan…”
Edmund said nagka buhol-buhol ang dila ni Ike when Dave was speaking to him. Nanerbyos siguro alam mo dangan kasi si kwan.
I was worried the flower’s red satin wrap with sinamay would be off but to my surprise, Carol was wearing a red ensemble which perfectly matched the red colored-satin.
She had red shoes, red dangling earrings, red dress, shawl and bag. Perfect.
We went up to the VIP lounge and we had some tete a tete. They didn’t want to touch the pastries Oyen had prepared kasi they just came from lunch.
It meant a lot to me when Dave expressed genuine appreciation for our family’s commitment to the Ford brand. Even during difficult times, we never wavered on our loyalty to Ford, but there were times when we began to doubt their commitment to us. We were the very first new generation dealer in the Philippines. We introduced Ford Expedition to the country.
Ford is not just a business to us. It is family. It is life. Every morning we rise because we have employees who depend on us, a partner (FORD) who count on us, communities that need support, a country we want to help, less fortunate individuals who don’t know who we are but we care to help. The list is long. Doing business is about living. This is not just about numbers. This is about relationships too. That’s what doing business is all about.
