Washington DC
We had an early dinner. All tired from the flight, and wanting to sleep early.
We walked two short blocks from Marriott Renaissance Hotel to Park Hyatt Hotel where the restaurant Blue Duck Tavern is. This place is rated and highly recommended.
There were tables inside but we chose the one outside. It’s nice to sit there and enjoy the pleasant weather.

I asked the Spanish waiter if the food there is good, he replied
“Oh it’s fantastic.”
I ordered Bouillabaisse, and so did Tonyboy Cojuangco, Jun Periquet, Jun Bella.
Brothers Dindo and RP Manhit both had crab cakes.
Tonyboy ordered the restaurant’s specialty, duck, to share family style. They left the drumstick for me but I passed. I am not fond of ducks (to eat), but I get excited whenever I see a duck walking or swimming in the pond. It reminds me of my childhood. My father had a duck farm in Wawa, Binangonan, Rizal. He had thousands of ducks that laid eggs, which he supplied to Balut and Penoy makers. When a strong typhoon comes, the flimsy fences got blown away, ducks swim away, on the river, into Laguna de Bay, my father’s pocket drained, his heart broken, my mom would have a bad day.

When RP asked the waiter if their dessert is good, he answered “They’re amazing.”
We ordered several kinds which we shared. Para matikman namin lahat.
Amazing apple pie. The most delicious I’ve ever tasted so far. Not maasim, not too sweet either.
Cheesecake
Chocolate Brownie with peanuts, walnuts, etc.
I just love their vanilla ice cream. It’s not so sweet. It blended well with the apple pie, and chocolate brownie.
When I looked at the menu prizes, I thought Blue Duck Tavern’s prices were very reasonable. It’s cheaper than in some restaurants in Manila. The bouillabaisse is US$28. I thought our meal would be $50 per person on the average. But when the bill came, it was $400.00 + or around $80 per person. Siguro because of the duck, taxes plus we ordered a bottle of red wine. The wine was from Napa Valley and I didn’t think it was expensive.
It was a very great dining experience. The six of us truly enjoyed our dinner, after a long day, it was a welcome respite. Fantastic dishes, amazing desserts, and very good company.
By the way, thanks to the host and the one who found the place on line, AOC.
