Since we’re going to Half Moon Bay, Edmund’s friend, Joey Maniquiz, recommended that we go to Sam’s Chowder House.
My husband didn’t get the address, he just relied on the “pagdating sa kanto, kanan, nadun na”.
When we reached the intersection, I saw Sam’s Coffee, but there’s no Chowder.
A———-“Wala akong nakikita na Sam’s Chowder. Ano ba ang sabi?”
E———- “Basta Sam”.
A———- “Sam ano, Sam’s Coffee lang nadun”.
E——— “may Clam Chowder yata. Ano, balik tayo kay Sam’s coffee? Baka yun?”
A——– “Coffee?”
E——— “Ikutan natin”.
A———-“Tanungin mo nga si Joey, anong address”.
We couldn’t find it, we stopped at a parking lot.
E———-“hello pare dito kami….., san ba yung Sam’s …….
While we’re parked I Googled the location. Tama nga, pagdating sa kanto kanan. But it’s far from “dun na”, because it was still quite a drive. Along Cabrillo Highway and still a few miles away. We found it after several stop lights.
The place was jam packed. We waited for about half hour before we got a table.
The place has a nice view of the water and the sunset.
The oceanfront view provided a romantic sunset backdrop except that my husband didn’t want to sit here, outside, kasi daw giginawin kami.
I think the wait was 45 minutes. Kasi dumilim na before we got a table.
The specialty of the house is the Lobster Clambakes $69.99
Their Lobster Roll is their most popular dish. It was named as Top Five “Best Sandwiches in America” by the NBC’s The Today Show.
A———“Tart wag mong lagyan ng flash, Nakikita wrinkles ko”.
E——–“Madilim kasi”.
A——– “Buti nga”.
Edmund asked me how many oysters I wanted, I said two. Tapos he ordered 6, 7 came.
These were tiny oysters kaya even if you eat 6, hindi nakaka busog.
They’re so fresh. $3 each plus tax plus tip
My photographer insisted that I should show that I am eating oysters.
We ordered clam chowder. Dito palang sa oyster and chowder busog na ako. I should not have ordered Lobster Roll.
A lot of people were ordering the Lobster Roll so nakigaya na rin kami. Mukha kasing masarap. It came with potato chips and coleslaw salad.
Top five sandwich? Hmm, I found the taste bland. Siguro you have to eat the whole sandwich with catsup and other condiments. I just ate the lobster meat, which had no taste at all.
Top Sandwich in America, not according to me.
Our bill was almost a hundred dollars, plus 15% or 20% tip eh over a hundred na.

Just got back from Tokyo and apologies for “dun na!” Owe you a Cioppino at Sam’s next time. Made me laugh a lot!
Salamat Joey. The fun included getting lost twice in Half Moon Bay: Looking for Sam, then looking for Ritz Carlton. When we couldn’t find Sam’s Chowder, my husband wanted to go back to Sam’s Coffee, maybe that’s the one, maybe we could find chowder in their menu. Coffee con Chowder!
