Ever since I heard from Johnny Litton and Pete Villalon that the Amoroma Ristorante Italiano in Tagaytay is the best, I became curious and have been wanting to try their food. Although I am frequently in Tagaytay, sometimes naman I was not in the mood for pizza and pasta.
And since they’re located immediately after turning right at Calamba Road, National Hway from the Tagaytay-Sta.Rosa road, we would always miss it, lampas na, so tamad na kami mag-u turn.
Last Thursday afternoon, my daughter and I hied off to Tagaytay. There was no annoying traffic. We arrived at 1:35 pm, just in time for their 2 pm closing.
My daughter was actually in the mood for Cafe Breton but she gave way to my curiosity to try Amoroma.
We didn’t expect it would be cold and windy.
I was blown-away by Amoroma’s delicious cooking.
Grilled Zucchini roll, with prosciutto, cheese and arugula in balsamic dressing
Bread is freshly baked from a wood-fired stone oven
Very thin and crispy focaccia bread.
Focaccia is a flat bread similar to a pizza dough.
The photo of the owner is proudly displayed in one corner. A befitting tribute to his passion to share his Italian heritage to Filipinos thru authentic Italian food.
Amoroma is now under the able hands of Mrs. Pholie Mastropietro ever since Mr. Nicola M. passed away.
They have a bed and breakfast located in the same building as Amoroma’s.
Amoroma founder Nicola Mastropietro loved his native Rome so much, he named his restaurant I Love Rome in Italian. They were in Alabang for several years but decided to transfer to Tagaytay because of Alabang’s escalating rent expense.
