Turkey and PGH - Oh My Buhay

It was Thanksgiving Day in America last thursday November 27. Although we do not observe this special US holiday, we ordered two big turkeys (as if there are small turkeys) three days prior. The minimum size is 5 kilos kaya ang bigat-bigat and the price is by the kilo, tila a thousand pesos or 995/kilo. By 11 am my driver was already in Ayala Alabang waiting for our orders.

I was so pressed with time because I have to be in PGH at 2 pm. Kaya I was calling my driver every 15 minutes.
The first turkey was for our friend and it reached his office in Taguig at 1 pm. Luckily the traffic was not that bad I was able to reach PGH at 2:30 pm.

Every ward has 50 beds and they’re always occupied.

May not be very visible, but there’s a cute baby on the bed. Ohh, she’s sick. Wala pang kamuang-muang, her eyes were open. I hope she gets well.

Nurses must be well compensated, respected and appreciated. They are taking care of sick people who are total strangers to them.

I couldn’t bring a priest to bless the babies from another parish because the hospital has its own chaplain.

I went to the chaplain’s office to explain what the Baptism of Angels is all about. It would the first time that we’re holding the blessing here at PGH and I wanted to make sure that the nurses and the priest understand the purpose.

There was a skinny and dirty-looking poor fellow sitting in the chaplain’s office’s sala. I asked him if he’s waiting for someone.
A madre gave him some food, then a deacon gave him a small glass of drinking water. While I was waiting for the priest, I asked the guy “sinong iniintay mo?” He said he wants to go home to Pampanga but he doesn’t have money. he said someone stole his wallet and his slippers. But I noticed that although his slippers have different colors, they look new. He claims someone stole his tsinelas.
“Mahirap pala dito sa Maynila, pati tsinelas pinag-iinteresan”. I was confused, if someone had stolen his slippers, eh how come he has new ones although mismatch colors?

Although his stories didn’t quite sum up, I gave him a P50 bill. Naisip ko, bahala na nga sya kung nag-gagawa-gawa lang sya ng istorya. Nagulat sya sa bigay ko, pati si Elma and si brother.

Before going home, I dropped off the other turkey to Mr. Co’s house. Ang laki-laki daw eh dalawa lang pala sila sa bahay. Busog yung mga maids, drivers, security guards and bodyguards nila kasi ang laki-laki nung turkey.
