We decided late in the game where we wanted to go after Christmas. The days after Christmas and before New Year are considered super peak travel days kaya hotels and air tickets are more expensive. Dapat pala I booked at least six months prior. But it’s difficult to make fixed schedules ahead of time.
One of the requirements of choosing a place to visit was dapat malamig. We chose between Korea and Baguio but we couldn’t get rooms at the Manor in Baguio. After some deliberations, we decided to join a tour in Korea but I just wanted to stay around Seoul and none of the island tours kaya I revised our tour schedule.
Getting visas is always troublesome. Marriage contract, birth certificates, photos, letter from our employers granting us vacation leaves, bank certificates. The “to whom it concern” certifications are a thing of the past. The letters must be addressed specifically to the respective embassy/ies, original with time and date.
Two weeks before Christmas, I was having some jitters because the temperature in Korea was around negative 8 to 10.
I survived the zero degree in Shanghai because of my daughter. She lent me her winter gears. I survived New York in winter and spring because of 7 layers of clothing.
My daughter was the one very concerned about my winter gears. Among the four of us, we consider her the authority when it comes to “surviving in the winter”. She bought me a pair of winter boots from Old Navy. She also got me a new jacket. I have a bonnet too.
First time to take Korean Airlines. I’ve been to Korea 3 x but always on PAL.
PAL flight to Seoul is at 1 am and leaves Seoul to Manila in the morning. I like Korean Airline’s schedule better.
Our flight took off from NAIA 1 around 30 minutes late due to air traffic.
Our flight was pleasant. The chicken rice was good and I was able to finish two movies, first was the One hundred foot journey starring Helen Mirren, and One Chance, the true to life movie on Paul Potts, the winner of British Got Talent.
Seoul’s Incheon Airport is big, nice and looks new.
The British India blouse I was wearing is so manipis. That’s my son’s Christmas gift for me. I wore it to show him my appreciation for every item that he gives me. Plus I really like the blouse. It’s comfortable and loose. Except that it’s a summer dress.
It was negative 5 when we landed in In-Cheon yesterday at 5 pm (4 pm Manila time). After we cleared thru Korea’s immigration, we all layered up before going out of the building.
