Vongole Pasta @ Uncle Cheffy

We went to Eastwood looking for a restaurant that would serve food faster. We have a movie to watch, Focus, in the older Eastwood cinema.

Eastwood, looking for a restaurant

Someone handed us a leaflet from S&R pizza. Mukhang masarap but
the place is on the other side, eh we were walking towards the opposite direction. Nakakatamad to walk back. Edmund was also tired because he walked 18 holes that morning. He just couldn’t say no when Oyen asked him to watch a movie with us.

Oyen wanted pizza so we went to Italianni’s. They’re under renovation. We ended up in Uncle Cheffy’s. We’ve been here once before, a few years ago.

Nyke ordered this Salmon Carpaccio but we all shared. Naubusan sya. The alfalafa sprouts with tiny sliced onions on top removed the fishy taste of smoked salmon. Very good. I think the green strips were Thai basil.

We ordered Shrimps with Pomelo Salad, family size. The plate was full of greens but it was lacking in shrimps and pomelo. With that price, I expected to get more taste and ingredients.

One panizza for all of us. I had one roll. I very rarely use table salt and pepper while dining. If you see me sprinkling either salt or pepper or both on my food that means I was looking for more flavor.
Uncle Cheffy's panizza,

I blog not to criticize. I am also a business owner so I also do not feel happy being criticized. But if the comment is meant well, then we’ll take it as an opportunity to improve our service/s.

In this particular Vongole, I left a note na wala syang lasa. I hated doing that because syempre the chef would be offended. But I felt I had to so they would know what needed attention in their restaurant. I sent it back to the kitchen so they could improve on the taste, maybe put a sauce or something. The waiter gladly obliged. It took them a while to bring back the plate. When it came back, it tasted the same. No taste. Correction. It had more garlic taste from the brown garlic. They just sprinkled more toasted garlic. Not because there were clams in a pasta it could already be called vongole. My impression was that they didn’t know what to do maybe because that’s the kind of vongole they knew. And with all humility and candor, I know that that’s not the way a real vongole should taste like.
I would suggest that they temporarily remove this from the menu till they have discovered a new improved vongole that could stand scrutiny from food lovers like me. I think this dish is not their strongest point.
