O now I remembered, we’re walking two blocks to Trofea Grill and Restaurant, where our lunch would be.
Our long table was inside a big room. There was another reserved long table, and what a small world, we were speaking the same language with the peope there. Tagalog, Filipino, Pin, Fin, Pinoy pinoy akoooo, maliit ang mundoooo…
(I am singing).
The one wearing a navy blue jacket was the Philippine Ambassador to Hungary, the rest were their guests and staff from the Philippine Embassy in Budapest
Lunch was buffet. Buffets are great for takaw people like us but very bad because we all end up eating more than we should.
I was so thirsty I allowed myself to commit a mortal sin. I drank two small glasses of coca cola which they call in Europe, COCA. Water is still or gas.
I let my children get food first. I stayed at the table to keep an eye on our belongings, for fear of losing our bags, our passports, our money.
It’s my turn. I brought my bag with me. I didn’t want to keep it away from my body.
The usual stuff. I skipped the appetizers. I went around the buffet table twice and didn’t find anything that made my bulates jump.
My son, back at the buffet table, getting food he seemed not sure about.
Five kinds of soup, not today. I felt warm.
They called this show kitchen where you can choose and they cook.
After three rounds of food shopping and mental deliberating on which food to eat, I got rice, one piece of fried chicken, two small slices of grilled chicken, a scoop of sauce with asparagus and shredded chicken. All chicken, siguro na-miss ko na si Antonia.
And for the finale, I scooped all the top fluffy part of this dessert and left the bottom.
