I spent a total of three days last week tending to my mini farm. It was super hot because the lot has only few trees. I’ve planted several dozens payatot trees hoping that they would be full grown by the time I reach 75.

The only consolation is that there’s one giant mango tree in the property and it provides me with a cool shade. According to the neighbors, this is more than 50 years old. Baka ka-birthday ko pala ito.

Even when it’s 45 degrees under the sun, when I am under the mango tree, it feels like 25 degrees , with less humidity.

It now has hundreds of fruits I couldn’t reach. And they keep on falling to the ground. One medium-sized supsupin mango almost hit my head.

shade under the mango tree

I went to Home Depot this afternoon to buy a nylon net. I would hang them under the mango tree to catch the falling fruits and prevent it from hitting me.

A—————“Miss, meron ba kayong green net para sa garden?”
Sales lady——“Net, meron”.
A—————“Asan?”
Sales lady——“Dun mam”.

A—————“Yung nylon, meron kayong kulay green?”
Sales lady——“Wala kami mam, green lang meron”.
A—————“Yung nylon, hindi plastic”.
A—————“Merong pino?”

  1. Hi Ms. Annie,
You can find that nylon net as big as lambat in Juan Luna St. I saw black, red, green colors. I suggest you pass by binondo church straight ahead until you reach the landmark Starbucks Binondo or Pancake house, the whole stretch is Juan Luna. However, almost nasa dulo na sya reaching Divisoria Ilaya. Please be wary of the traffic, pickpockets hehe. And bring small car pra pwede mgdouble park while the driver is waiting for you.

  2. Ms. Annie I bought some garden nets sa Divisoria, especially if you need longer/bigger sizes. Meron along the streets of Juan Luna and Recto. Meron din akong nakita sa Ace Hardware garden section pero pre-cut na so I don’t know if it’s going to fit your mango tree.

  3. Yes correct, you can buy nets in Juan Luna St Binondo. There are several shops there selling fishing supplies. It’s in the segment of a Juan Luna across Juan Luna Plaza
