I made the mistake of joining my sister in exploring more of Filoli’s garden. I was already comfortably seated at the sofa waiting for my macho rooster to be packed. I was already tired from walking and I knew the heat outside got even hotter at 3 pm. Bong volunteered to bring the boxed rooster to the car while we continued exploring. Eto na, super init. Even with sunglasses, my eyes could still see the glaring sun. The heat penetrated my blouse, my hair and jeans. It was a temperature perfect for grilling and toasting. It must be 100 degrees!
When Edmund saw the swimming pool, para daw ang sarap tumalon. Ang init talaga kasi.
I couldn’t appreciate anymore the sprawling garden because all I could feel was the debilitating heat.
This circle pond is easy to replicate even with a small lot. Hmm this is doable, is this pretty and / or practical?
The estate is full of bricks. Fences, houses, flooring, walkways, sidewalks. They probably had a brick maker on site or they made their own bricks during those days.
Bricks are expensive. the vintage ones are P70 a piece. The cement reproduction called pavers range from P9 – P30 each. Too expensive when you multiply that by thousands of pieces.
This looks like a decommissioned bird bath. The pink flowers are not planted, they’re in small plastic containers.
Original cast iron gate with the initials of the original owner, Mr. Bourn.
The garden is huge we got lost for a few minutes. We weren’t sure if we’re going towards the exit. Here’s dear husband double checking if we’re on the right path.
My husband likes to point at trees and fruits where ever we go. When he does that, he sounds so sure of the information he provides. Sometimes he would argue that he’s correct. “Tart, tart, apple oh, apple yan!”
Kung nasa Pilipinas kami, siguro sasabihin nya yan ay kaimito.
Mukhang hindi apple. Ayy, pears pala.
Malayo pa pala. This is the rose garden pa. It’s still a long walk to the exit.
We passed by this single-detached brick tea house or lanai overlooking the English Renaissance Garden.
Ay this is so nice. I want to have something like this (eto na naman ako).
Edmund and entered the approximately 48 square meter elegant enclosed room.
This is original to the property, a solid cast iron planter stand.
The large French windows beautifully frame the greens.
Nalibang kami ni Edmund yun pala my sister, Bong, Kay, Kimberly and Brian were already waiting for us outside.
A visit to Filoli was well worth our time. If only the sun was less intense.
