fourth of July 2015

Lately we’ve been spending the fourth of July in the Bay Area. Not planned, just a coincidence. Natye-tyempo lang.

This year we went to the Marina, quite late. We were there at 9:45 pm just few minutes before the fireworks started.

A lot of the residents started camping around the Marina as early as 6 pm.

The staging barge was a bit far to keep it away from yachts and gas station for the boats at the Marina.

The coffee shop at the Marina Club building was already closed. We were looking for food because we haven’t had dinner.

Most people didn’t even know that it was already the fireworks sponsored by the city. We thought some neighbor was just trying to steal the show. Yun pala, iyun na.

It was so subdued. The wind was strong which according to Edmund affected the fireworks. They were being blown away, kaya hindi maganda gaano ang effect. It was long but sparse.

Edmund said our neighbors here in Manila have more elaborate fireworks than this one.

It lasted for 20 minutes but sparse. According to Dragon Fireworks, ang fireworks ay hindi pahabaan kundi padamihan.

The crowd started thinning. I suspected they didn’t want to get caught in a traffic jam.

People got more excited when the finale came but it only lasted for a few seconds.

There was a Mexican food truck just outside the Marina. This guy was very smart. He was the only one who stayed open up to 11 pm.

We ate at the back of the SUV while watching people, trucks, vans, including police cars go by. By this time the breeze had become chilly. We were fourth to the last to leave the parking area. I was keenly observing the vehicles and people coming and going and aware of who’s around us. But it’s generally safe because the policemen were everywhere. I could hear their sirens blazing.
