Ready for the big day - Oh My Buhay

Ready for the big day

It would be the longest 24 hours for the candidates most especially to those gunning for the presidency, Duterte, Poe, Roxas, and Binay.

Their kingmakers must be chewing on their tobaccos and preparing themselves for the worst and wishing for the best.

Avid supporters, paid staff and kind volunteers, including those blindly-following and supporting their own candidates will not be able to sleep either because their adrenaline are still on high octane. Ready for the big day on Monday.

We, ordinary citizens, the working class, foreign investors and local businessmen, are waiting and watching on the sidelines, of the outcome.
Who will it be?

For me it’s not about WHO the person is, but it’s more about what this person is going to do as president? What kind of economic environment would he/she evoke? What kind of perception would the foreign community get? Would there be peace on this part of the earth, or there would be chaos, created by mischievous followers of losing candidates and people taking advantage of Filipinos’ disunity?

I am worried about Filipinos’ immaturity. Judging from the mind-conditioning being done that every talo is dinaya, then no loser would concede. How would the losers take their defeat? No one will have the humility and maturity to admit “hey, I lost, let’s now give our support to the one elected”. People who are talking of impeachment and coup d’tat are only interested in their own agenda and don’t really care for our country.

Philippines is a democratic country. Elections are conducted as a way of exercising our right to choose our own candidates. We all have differences in our preferences, many like Mar Roxas, many are for Grace Poe, VP Binay has his own bunch of followers too. Duterte has awakened the sentiments of millions of Filipinos who thought that our country needed a barbaric kind of leadership to stop crime.

Let’s vote for our own choice, according to our own volition. Iboto kung sino ang gusto mo. HOWEVER, after the ballots have been cast, counted and a winner has been announced, let’s all forget who we voted for. AS citizens of this country, we now have an obligation to throw our kind support and respect to whoever the winner will be. Even if we don’t like him’her as a person, let’s respect the democratic process. Do not be lured into marching to EDSA to join a destructive and pointless rally. Let us not allow ourselves to be used by people who would pretend to care for our country. ang taong hihikayat sa atin na manggulo ay walang malasakit sa ating kapakanan.

We would start our week in chaos and despair. And this could lead to a serious economic and political crisis. Lalong hindi aabante ang Pilipinas.
Paatras and mangyayari sa bansa natin. Marami sa atin ay mawawalan ng trabaho.

When a person has been elected, let us respect his position. Igalang kung sino man sya. Sa mga kandidato, kung matalo kayo, tanggapin para sa kapakanan at katahimikan ng bayan.

Kaya natin kung tayo ay magkakaisa.
