Sleep and Depression - Oh My Buhay

Sleep and Depression

Edmund has been sleeping intermittently. He’s planning to go to a sleep doctor if there’s such a thing.

He’s recovering well from Bell’s Palsy. In fact his face distortion is now hardly noticeable. He is no longer as conscious about his mouth as before. His right eye still needs some massage and regular drops morning, noon and night.

There are still two things that bother him, his tongue, para daw laging napaso. And his dizziness. Hindi yung imiikot ang paligid, eto yung para syang lula. Parang na-a-out-balance sya. I occasionally experience that too. Madalas when I am in the office. I would all of a sudden feel like I would faint. It goes away in a few minutes.

He had blood tests two days ago kasi daw baka he has this and that. All his blood chem were normal. The other day Edmund visited an ear doctor. To check if he has vertigo. Wala naman daw. The doctor asked him if he is able to go back to sleep immediately after taking a leak break at night. The answer is no.
When Edmund wakes up in the middle of the night, he has trouble going back to sleep. The ear doctor said it’s because Edmund is actually depressed.
Ganun pala yun. Paghindi ka makatulog kasi ang dami mong iniisip, ibig sabihin, you may be depressed.

Aside from giving him a relaxant, the doctor also provided Edmund with some comic relief. Dami nyang tsismis na nasagap. And since some of his friends also happen to go to this doctor, pati life story ng ibang friends nya, naikwento rin sa kanya.

This doctor couple has two children who are also doctors. The third one is a drug addict, in and out of rehab. It’s a family problem they couldn’t solve.

Someone is depressed because his live-in partner abandoned him when his financial troubles piled up. He could no longer afford extra luxuries.

A family is also having problems with their youngest son who is also in and out of rehab. This habit is difficult to shake-off. He’s been spotted approaching strangers asking for their help. Not financial help but probably he was feeling miserable. I feel for his parents. They must be so sad.

There were so many kwentos but secret yung iba.
