I was supposed to have lunch yesterday with an acquaintance I met at a short flight. He canceled out because the big boss of a major automotive player in the world called him up and invited him to have lunch meeting at his residence some two hours away by car. He apologetically moved our meeting to 3-3:30 pm but for some reason I was attacked by a bad case of migraine and tension headache. I was in bed for 24 hours, getting up only to take medication and put hot towel on my head, forehead, shoulders and nape. We both decided it would be best to cancel.
Anyway, today I decided to have lunch at the same restaurant where our meeting was supposed to be held yesterday.
I had salad. I wanted Seared Ahi Tuna but the waitress said it’s a special and it’s not always on the menu. She recommended either Grilled Salmon or Shrimp Louie. I chose the latter.
The waitress was alone but she was very efficient and moved with precision. There were about a dozen customers and yet she served us all with speed, competence, and smiling. She was knowledgeable about the dishes. She was also the cashier. That restaurant is lucky to have an employee like her.
How tiny the shrimps are. I was expecting some decent looking shrimps but these are baby shrimps. Not even.
They don’t look like shrimps. They don’t taste like shrimps. Despite of that, I finished the salad. The vegetables were fresh and the dressing was great.
I was surprised that they have cheese cake today.
The way I eat cheesecake is I first slice the triangular tip.
Then the side of the crust. I finish eating the Graham pie crust first before I devour the filling.
I stayed for a few more minutes while I read a book. There were about 4 ladies eating at the bar and I heard one of them say “If you’re a good kisser, you’re a good lover”. Hmmm.
I stopped reading the book because I remembered I had errands to make. I left and drove off. When I reached the corner of the street, I changed my mind. I wanted to swing by the nearby bookstore first. I made a U-turn. I saw the owner of the restaurant waving at me. Oh my, I left my cellphone on the table. I parked again and got my phone and thanked him profusely.
So that was the reason why I changed my mind. My guardian angel whispered.
