Our family’s relationship with the BROTHER brand dates back 30 years. It started when my brother, Kuya Lito, shipped one electric typewriter to his office here in Manila from his office in California, Edison Hubbard Corporation.
That time, his company in Manila, Teledyne Marketing and Construction Corporation, was supplying Meralco, National Power Corporation and National Electrification Administration with electrical products coming from the USA. The procurement processes were all thru bidding. The quotations were typed in company letterheads with the use of a typewriter. Prior to that, his employees used manual typewriter. When the new electric typewriter arrived from the USA, everyone in the office including the driver and janitor wanted to use it.
Because of its efficiency and proven ease of use, and to avoid fist-fight over who gets to use the electric typewriter first, my brother bought a second typewriter. Another amazing thing that happened was when he brought home a Brother fax machine. With that new technology, we were able to send communication letters in seconds, instead of waiting for a week to send documents in pouches thru DHL.
When my son was small, he was so malikot in his sleep and he would sleep walk. He would kick and growl as if he was fighting with some cartoon characters. I was afraid he would fall off the bed so the two of us slept on the floor. One night, my son stood up but I didn’t guide him to the toilet. I didn’t hear the toilet door opened so I looked to check. Oh my God, he was standing right in front of my Brother printer about to pee. I grabbed him and carried him to the toilet. Just in time, or else goodbye Brother printer.

The company’s focus is to provide products that will always be at your side to support people in their lifestyles and work styles. I wonder if their printer could withstand baby pee.
By the way, Edmund and I bought a computerized Brother sewing machine from Sear’s last year. It has embroidery capabilities but we haven’t used it yet. It still is in the box. Next time, we don’t have to buy in the US because their products are distributed here by Brother International Philippines Corporation, the local subsidiary of Brother International Singapore.
