Back to London Heathrow

April 7, 2017

The Indian driver and van owner was late by an hour. Instead of coming at 11 am, he arrived at 12 noon. Kesyo traffic daw, but the previous night he told us there would not be any traffic today. We already requested the concierge to call us two vans. When the van owner arrived, he pleaded to Edmund so we canceled the taxis.

We were a bit late because the driver had to make two trips because all of us including golf bags could not fit into his van. We got to the airport at 1 pm already for our 2 pm flight. Medyo photofinish.

We couldn’t help but feel envious every time we see a nice airport. Syempre we always wished sana ganito airport sa Pilipinas.

The electronic check in machine couldn’t find Elmer and I’s booking so we had to go to the manned checked in counter. When we went through the security check, Elmer’s things were thoroughly inspected. When we were passing thru the automatic scanning machine to get to the secured area, the machine couldn’t read Elmer’s boarding pass bar code so he had to go through the manual checking. Lagi syang naiiwan. Sabi ni Roger “kung sino pa ang pinakamayaman dito sya pa ang….”

Rolly paid an extra 65 pounds upon check in for his extra baggage.

Because we were late, or because the Indian driver was late, we lost time to have lunch at the airport. I was still busog pero yung mga guys medyo gutom na because they had an early breakfast.

Busog pa ako but husband asked “tart, ikaw ano napili mo?”
Sige na nga, I got shrimp and avocado salad.

The British Airways flight to Edinburg was only 55 minutes but factor in the waiting time inside the plane, including the disembarking, it was like an almost two hour flight.

The plane has one class, and seats are three and three. Three on one side and three on the other side. Medyo masikip kasi punong-puno. Edmund’s hand-carry is big but still fit the overhead compartment. Me, I placed my small white luggage inside my bigger blue luggage so I don’t have to drag it and place on the overhead bin. Nahihirapan ako kasi mabigat. Since my big luggage is half empty, ayun nagkasya yung puti sa isang side.

There were small donation envelopes in the seat pockets. I placed coins in two packets and gave to the flight attendant. They said if only they could collect 25 pounds from this flight, it would already go a long way in helping school children in Africa.
