Celso Montalla et al, Boy Tan and we, are staying at the Conrad Hotel St. James London. Bobby and Madet booked a hotel near Piccadilly Circus, Elmer, Rolly, Roger and children at staying at Hoxton Hotel while Larry and Mariz are in Holiday Inn.
Edmund and I had stayed here at the Conrad 3 years ago when it was still Intercontinental Hotel. The hotel is far from the maddening crowd of Chinatown and Trafalgar Square but it’s a close walk to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing and Big Ben.
We were so tired and hungry when we arrived at the hotel.
I was feeling suffocated because the air conditioning unit was not working. We went out to have a late dinner first. When we came back, I complained about the aircon and they moved us to a suite room. I was already having an onset of migraine attack and was becoming irritable and disoriented. I went down to the lobby because I was having panic attack in that tiny room. They moved Edmund and Boy too to a different room.
The first room they assigned to us had no exterior view which made me even more constricted. Maybe it was psychological. I felt suffocated.
They promptly moved Yen and I to a suite room which is much bigger than the twin room. This room has large windows facing the street.
The hotel has a very small inner bay or drive way to drop off guests. We noticed the different brands of cars that were parked on the driveway. Everyday there would be a different one. Maserati, Ferrari, Jaguar, etc. I asked the doorman if those expensive cars belong to the hotel. He said those belong to a Chinese guest who’s staying at the hotel with his girlfriend. He said everyday the Chinese guy brings in a different sports car. He is only renting those.
