I Believe in God

I wasn’t able to transfer to another hotel room. The hotel was fully booked last weekend and the only few rooms available were smoking rooms. The location of the newer rooms were in the noisy section. I was also tired everyday so I just stayed here. It’s a hassle to pack and unpack. My room is also comfortable and has a good view so I just stayed. And besides, baka meron ding multo dun sa ibang mga kwarto. Imagine 85 people died, oh.
Sabi nga ng mama ko, matakot ka sa buhay hindi sa patay because they will do no harm.

I am leaving today and the spirit lingering around here did the same thing everyday. Flashed the toilet several times each night. In split second, I thought I saw thru the mirror someone seating on the bed. The aircon switched off after I switched it on and vice versa. I never placed my clothes in the closet and let its sliding mirror doors open the whole time. Last night I heard the doors rolled twice but when I looked they were still open. I always heard someone trying to open my door. Maybe those people from the adjacent rooms were opening their doors. Last night at exactly twelve midnight, someone was frantically trying to open my door from the outside. I thought of opening my door to see who it was. I looked first thru the peep hole because it could be some drunk person. When I looked, no one was there.

Two mornings ago, I could hear two women having a conversation just outside my door. I couldn’t understand what they were talking about, I just knew they were discussing something. I was a little annoyed because they’ve been there for at least 10 minutes. I opened my door, maybe they were the housekeeping. No one was there, the whole hallway was empty.

Me matapang? Of course not. Nagtatapang-tapangan lang. I slept every night with the lights on.
I don’t mind staying here again. Bally’s has a good location and the wi-fi is good. Ghosts will not be a problem next time I travel here because my husband will accompany me. Takot sa kanya ang multo.

Spirit or not, I just had to pray last night. My own soul was restless. I am missing my children and they are missing me. My husband misses me too and wants me to relax and prepare to come home soon. I was also thinking of the people from Binangonan who owed me money with no intention to pay me from the beginning. Mga balasubas. Nagpaloko na naman ako.

I also thought of the American Uber driver that brought me from the restaurant to Bally’s yesterday. She and her husband have been trying to have a baby for the past 15 years. I prayed for their intention. I asked God to please grant their request, to have at least one cute, healthy baby that would bring the couple happiness.

Sometimes my heart beats faster and I feel worried about many things. The prayer I Believe in God helps calm me down when I am feeling anxious.

I believe in God, the father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

  1. Hi Ms. Annie!

I’m Fam from Davao Oriental. I’m really hoping you’d get to read my comment coz I just have to tell you that reading your blog has now become one of my hobbies. We were having dinner earlier and my mom asked me why I was wide awake at 4am this morning. Actually I got up to pee and instead of going back to bed, I picked my phone and started reading your blog. I am now on page 144. Yes! From Page 224, i’m now on page 144.

I came to know about your blog through candifier’s (candy dizon) site. Apparently it was chuvaness who mentioned your blog to her. And yun na, reading ur blog has become part of my daily activities na!

Eto pa tlga! Share ko lang. Weird lang or coincidence, di ko ma-explain. I’m a legal researcher and i go to Manila at least once a month for work. Being the probinsyana that I am, what I do to familiarize myself with the areas in Manila, meron ako landmark per area. The offices I go to in Manila are located in Quezon City and Ortigas. And most of the time that I’m there, I stay in the Manila area.. So from Manila going to Ortigas, sometimes dun kmi dumadaan sa route na where we pass by greenhills. Kpag napapadaan nko sa Ford Connecticut, i would often tell myself, ah somehow mlapit nko. Un ung landmark ko eh sa route na un..

Kpag nman galing kmi sa Quezon City then pabalik kmi sa Ortigas, kpag napapadaan na kmi sa Ford Edsa, sasabihin ko n nman sa self ko, ah malapit nko 🙂 Promise, those two Ford Centers have been my landmarks for the past three years. And ilang beses nko na-stuck sa traffic sa tapat ng showroom nyo and I would look at the cars nkapark sa labas ng showroom, ung sa front and i’d often wonder second hand kya ung mga un kya nsa labas lang nka park? sorry po un tlga naiisip ko.. those are just some of my muni2x kpag nsa tpat nko ng showroom nyo share ko lang kc tlgang napa-smile ako na while reading ur blog and i found out kayo may ari nung mga landmarks ko (landmarks ko tlga???). Imagine how many times ako nag-muni2x while stuck in traffic infront of your showrooms.

    1. Hi Fam,

Natutuwa ako sa kwento mo. Oo nga ano, coincidence yung landmarks mo. Next time you get caught in a traffic jam in front of Ford EDSA, park and go in. There’s free water, free aircon, free tv.
Although I seldom go there, you may ask the receptionist if I am around, if she knows who I am!!! I am always absent!

      1. Thank u for replying Ms. Annie
Btw, i’ve read that your husband loves mangosteen. Next time i’ll go there, will bring some Davao mangosteen and pomelo. Idaan ko lang po sa Ford Makati

  2. But I must admit, what really made me happy aside from somehow getting to know the owner of my “landmarks” through ur stories is your being personality. Reading your blog somehow gave me a glimpse of your life and kung ano ka as a person. Makikita kc un the way a person talk or in your case_write. Considering your status in life, youre not “mayabang” and pretentious. Sinasabi mo lahat about your past na talagang your parents worked hard to send all of you to school. And kayo din how you and your husband worked hard to get to where you both are now.
I can feel your sincerity and genuineness through ur stories. Walang pretend-pretend.
And most of all, ang GRAMMAR hindi trying hard! Yung alam mong hndi cya nakikigaya sa “blog lingo” and “pasosyal terms” ng iba pra lang sabihin na sosyal

    1. Thank you so much Fam for reading ohmybuhay.
I have become famous for my grammar. I don’t draft and edit my posts. I am too lazy to do that.
Thank you for all the kind words. Warm regards.

  3. Dear Bes,

Joey gave me such big honor by putting oh my buhay in the same category as Chuvaness, Tina Tagle, Candy Dizon, and all other great bloggers. Considering that I never intended to be a blogger and in fact I at first didn’t even know what blogging meant.
Thank you Bes. Thanks to Joey too.
