Tromso is the largest city in northern Norway that is famous for viewing the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights. The island has a population of 65,000 and is packed from September to March because tourists come to see the northern lights.
The small island is surrounded by fjords and snow-capped mountains.
This would be the start of our arctic adventure.
We arrived in Tromso at almost 6 pm.
The shuttle driver was born in Somalia. He was only 3 years when they emigrated to Norway. He said there are many Filipinos living here in Tromso, most of them work in hospitals. Nurses perhaps.
The van driver asked if we wanted to pass through the tunnel or on the hill for a scenic route. We of course chose to take the scenic route.
The ride to the hotel took about 20 minutes.
This photo taken in front of our hotel, right after we got off the airport van.
