We were picked up by our Northern Lights two female tour guides from the city’s tourism office. We swung by their office to better prepare us for the expected freezing temperatures while we drive to the wilderness to chase the aurora.
I thought my quadruple layers were sufficient to protect me from the cold. Hindi daw kaya.
We drove for a few minutes to the tour operator’s head quarters.
I only wore the bottom part because I felt warm from the heater.
I fell asleep while we drove for at least an hour to get out of the air pollution in the city. The best place to catch the aurora is in a pitch dark wilderness away from bright lights.
My daughter woke me because the aurora was already there. There were some vehicles and tourist buses that were already parked. We drove for a few more minutes to find our best spot.
She was the one who drove our van. She’s a Northern Lights veteran.
It was hard to move. I didn’t realize it was this hard.
Kira was our tour guide. She told us we were very lucky to see the Northern Lights on our first night. There were times they had to drive for 3 hours reaching as far as Finland just to find the boarealis. She said sometimes tourists stayed for a week and yet no aurora borealis showed up.
Kira taught us what is called the three three three survival guide.
