Miniature Horses in Paradizoo, Cavite - Oh My Buhay

Miniature Horses in Paradizoo, Cavite

I found a horse-for-sale advertisement online two and a half years ago. The horses were from Zoobic in Subic. It was a far drive so I wasn’t able to schedule a field trip. I called many times but I decided to postpone buying because I seldom went to the farm and no one would oversee the horse’s well-being. I was also afraid it might get stolen. Two weeks ago, I called again and inquired if they still have available horses. They do, always. They import many kinds of animals such as cows, giraffes, deer, peacocks, etc. on a regular basis from Australia where they have a breeding farm, and they also breed locally. They call those born in the Philippines as island born.

Instead of traveling to Subic, Edmund and I went to Paradizoo in Cavite to check out some of the horses. This place is also owned by Robert Laurel Yupangco, same owner as Residence Inn in Tagaytay, Zoobic in Subic, among others.

It’s been two weeks since we looked at the miniature horses and I still haven’t called Paradizoo. I am not prepared to shell out 300,000 bucks for one horse. Yeah they are cuties but the amount is not cute at all. I am worried if word gets around that my horse is that expensive, someone might come and steal it when I am away. Kawawa naman ako. Kawawa rin yung horse ko.

The very first time I inquired from Zoobic, I still remember them saying that the island born is 80,000 pesos. Pero ngayon, even island born cost between 250,000 – 280,000 depending on the size. The smaller the horsy the more expensive it becomes. The pure bred ones that are directly imported from Australia sell between 300,000 – 350,000. They have giraffes too, half-million pesos each. Reindeer 450,000, cows 550,000. I want a giraffe but my place is too small and my budget too. It might also eat all our trees, baka makalbo yung farm.

Zoobic import these animals because there are a lot of insanely rich Filipinos who like to collect exotic animals and other rare farm animals. I am insane and I promise myself I WILL buy a horse “later than sooner”. I’ll get a cheap one lang, pwede na kahit native. Hanap na lang ako ng pandak na kulang sa Star margarine.
