Edmund and I arrived from Bacolod on Feb 23 and the next day, February 24, I packed my bags again for an overnight stay in Tagaytay. Edmund played golf in the morning and proceeded to Tagaytay in the afternoon to spend half his Sunday with Oyen and me.
We’re spending the night in a hotel but he couldn’t join us because he was flying to Cebu the next day to join the annual PAL interclub golf tournament. He went out of his way to check us in at the hotel so he could avail of the senior citizen discount, and he got our room key. All I needed to do was to go up to our hotel room and relax.
His schedule was really tight but he didn’t mind getting tired and braving the heavy traffic to join us.
We spent our Sunday @ the farm. It’s so relaxing here. Our minds automatically shut off from life’s worries.
We harvested some eggs.
Hens lay eggs then sit on them all day long for 21 days more or less to incubate them until the eggs hatch. We are expecting 20 new baby chick-chicks this week.
I was surprised when I saw Daisy. She has grown a lot bigger…
… and Harry too. I can’t wait till they fall in love and have a baby.
When I told Edmund I was going to buy two more cows, ang lakas ng sagot “HUWAG NA!!!” When he saw my face looking sad, he changed his answer into “huwag muna, saka na lang pag naayos ko na yung lugar.” Whether he likes it or not, I am going to buy two more cows, within this year, maybe sometime in September. And a horse too, or two horses. There’s a small parcel of land at the back, I think I can have a small paddock there. Horses need hectares and hectares so they could run and stride but we don’t have a big of a lot so leisurely walking na lang sila, lakad-lakad, pwede na yang exercise. Dalawampung hakbang tapos U turn na.
Edmund had the grass scraped off. He filled and flattened the terrain. The grass now looks kalbo. Our hardinero has to get grass from the pastures outside to feed the two cows.
I passed by a group of men cutting down some old trees. I got off the van and asked them if I could have one or two pieces of blocks they didn’t need
They took the mid-section and cut them into long 2 inch thick lumber.
I sent three men to get two pieces of logs, they came back with three. The guy daw was asking for some kind of remuneration, like a tip. He told my driver I could get more as long as I give him some money. Okay na itong tatlong piraso. I had them washed kasi parang mukhang may anay yung labas pero wala naman, mukha lang bulok yung bark.
In a few months the water content would have totally evaporated. The logs would be lighter.
Three ducks died while we were away during the Christmas holiday. Kesyo gininaw daw sa lakas ng hangin at ginaw sa Tagaytay.
We have two new gardeners. One was a construction worker, and this guy, who was recommended to me by his father, whom Edmund and I had met in Nasugbu, Batangas a couple of months ago. I instructed him to prepare a garden plot. I gave him pechay seeds. When I came back the next day, eto na hitsura. Unlike with our former gardener, I had given him seeds but he never planted them. Nasayang lang. We’re glad he had left together with his whole family. Time to move on. I am not sure if the two gardeners would stay or how they would fare. Let’s see. Few days into the job, someone reported to me that they were at the sabungan. I checked the guard’s logbook and he didn’t record that the two had left the premises, and yet, he listed what time I arrived and left. When I asked him where were the two, the guard’s answer was “Mam, nagsimba ho.” Meron silang friendly cooperation. Soon, we will wire the whole place with cameras and alarms.
I am excited to see the vegetables grow. Kung suswertihin, in three months libre na pechay namin. Natin, kung gusto nyong humingi.
We left the farm at dusk, to get dinner.
