We walked down the hill from the house of Peter the Great to reach the Baroque style Kadriorg Palace. The chilly wind was blowing on my face making my gums numb. Everytime I would complain to my husband that I was freezing, he would remind me to cherish the coldness while we were there kasi nga naman when we go home, naku init naman sa Pinas.
The sun was shining brightly but for some reason, it was still very cold. Or maybe I was not dressed for this freezing temperature.
I just love trees. Am I the only tourist who stop and smell the trees?
Russian tsar Peter the Great started building this palace in 1718 for his love Catherine I of Russia to serve as their imperial summer residence. It was finished seven years later.
This is my Peter. He is trying to finish our summer residence cum retirement. We are not retiring yet so we’re taking our sweet time. It’s smaller than the patio of Palace Kadriorg. So far we don’t have a toilet yet and a bed. We do have folding beds good enough for afternoon naps.
I wanted to take a panoramic shot of the expansive front garden but our relatives (aka space invaders) were scattered around. Hard to get a good shot without them in the photos.
The palace is now an art museum unfortunately it was closed when we went. The beautiful building looks Italian-inspired and I wonder how elegant the inside is. Hayan si Asian relative her coat matches the palace’s exterior paint.
My tourmates, from left to right, Susan, Salve, Ramon Dimacali, president of Federal Phoenix Insurance Group, Aigina, Nadine, Edmund, Brian, Ohmybuhay. Iya and her mom, Mutya ng Pilipinas forever beauty, Cynthia Nakpil, volunteered to be our photographers. Thank you ladies.
