Mykonos Windmills - Oh My Buhay

There are sixteen windmills in Mykonos and seven are on top of a hill in Chora or town.  They get as much attention as the water, with millions of tourists clicking their cameras to share on Instagram, Facebook, etc. The more photos posted, the more interests are generated, the more tourists come.

I was already having an onset of migraine. When the tour guide pointed towards the windmills, they seemed so far away. It was really hot and glary. My husband asked me if I still wanted to go up there. I told him I’ve seen windmills before. But after as few minutes, sige na, let’s go and take a few photos. Oh my init!

Most of these windmills were built as wheat mills in the 16th century by the Venetians. Their use ended in the 20th century but the town preserved them as part of their history and heritage. One has been converted into a museum.

After taking a few photos, we stayed beside a fence which offered very little shade but it helped.
