My Feb 22, 2020 - Oh My Buhay

I think any day in February this year has a nice ring to it because of all the twos. Siguro many got married on Fen 22, 2020 Lalo na two years from now on Feb 22, 2022. Ayain ko nga si Edmund magpa-kasal uli kami. Maki uso kami. O kaya I’ll give birth on that day para lumiit na tyan ko.

My Feb 22, 2020 was good. I woke up noticing this bunch of flowers already drying but still looking lovely. They were given to my daughter on Valentines Day by her fiancee.

I went to a doctor’s clinic in Cardinal Santos. There was a stack of peanut butter for sale at the receptionist’s counter. Medyo off.

Thousands of us panicked when the masks disappeared from the shelves. Manufacturers panicked too and produced millions more. Ala, sabi ng mga doctors and health authorities, no need to wear a mask if you are healthy or not sick. Unless you are sick, then wear a surgical mask to prevent sneezing or coughing on other people’s faces.

I got tired and wanted to sit down while waiting for my driver. I didn’t want to sit near people to avoid catching any virus. Lalo namang I didn’t want to sit on this chair.

Cardinal Santos: throw this chair away. Kadirs na.

I’ve been craving for green mangoes, naglilihi siguro.

I bought this for dear husband. Favorite nya ito.

We skipped mass because the doctor told me to just pray at home to prevent catching the corona virus.
Edmund and I went to our favorite nail salon at 7 pm. They reopened today under a new management. Na tyempuhan lang namin.

nail salon
Hindi ako na-relax. They were noisy. The new owners were chatting as if they were in their own living rooms. The salon staff were also talking aloud, laughing, basta naiingayan ako sa kanila,
Two of the owners were in an animated conversation about their travels. I complained to the staff doing my nails. Pigil na pigil ako, I wanted to tell them to stop talking. I didn’t care if they were the owners. If they wanted their business to flourish, they should find another place to make kwentuhan. The music was also loud. Music is good when it’s soothing and relaxing. It was louder than what was necessary in a spa. Dapat yung ma re relax ako, hundi yung, maingay na yung mga nagku kwentuhan, bumabagsak pa yung mga gamit sa loob nung area nila, maingay pa yung tugtog.

When we were paying at the counter, our voices were soft and low, hushing. All of them noticed our protocol. Edmund told me that we taught the owners something new. They were not probably aware that people go to a spa to relax. Kaya nga I don’t go to beauty parlors kasi ayaw ko yung maraming tao at maingay. I don’t like to sit there with people walking back and forth in front of me, mga manicuristas na nagku-kwentuhan while doing my nails. Naku, umiinit ang ulo ko pag ganyan. I would surely tell them “miss, maya na kayo mag istoryahan pag alis ko”.

From the nail salon, we grabbed a late dinner at a nearby restaurant. We got there at 9 pm, half-hour before their last order.

spring rolls
We found the spring roll sarsa too sour.

Edmund ordered the black ink pasta with scallops and shared it with me. He thought I would like it because I always ordered black ink pasta at Cibo.
This pasta needed intervention based on my liking. I put a lot of salt and pepper but it didn’t do much to elevate the taste from oh! to awesome. But it made us laugh seeing our lips so black. Para kaming nasa Halloween Party.
